I have a question. What kind of shoes are currently in style for guys. Boots, sneakers, or sandels. What brands and colors are in style also.

It depends. Since you said that you are preppy I would assume that you wear button down shirts alot. I would say a good boot or dress shoe in a dark brown would be your best bet. The lace up kind. Versatile, classic and preppy.

It doesn't really matter, whatever you like. It also depends where you'll be. You may want a pair on sneakers and sandles so if your at the beach or if it's hot out, just where those. If your going somewhere an walking/ running around, use sneakers.
As for brands, you may want to try a few out, such a Nike and Airwalks. If you like lighter shoes, do with White (something light), if you like darker then black (something dark).
The only thing I use boots for is the winter.
