Why do a lot of people, American or otherwise, hate Canada so much and why have I heard so many anti-canadian insults flying all over the place?

i don't hate Canada.
but maybe some people make fun on them because they say "heyp" or something like that.
i just wish that our streets were so clean.
plus Canada is like America Jr

I can see how Canada can be scary with their socialized health care and Gay Marriage.
I am Canadian, I love my country. Canadians are awesome. Granted I do have a bit of a bias. There is no place I would rather live!
I do from time to time see the occasional anti-Canadian remark, however it is no more common than the anti-(well every body else) comments on here. Let's face the sad truth, some people are just haters.

Well it all started with a Flintstones movie called lost in Canada. In this movie Barney and Fred where VERY unhappy about being lost in Canada instead of on the t-saur beaches(fictional place). Barny made a lot of anti Canada remarks, and after that a lot of kids shows started make Canada remarks. such as the fairy odd parents. By the way im american but i lived in Canada for 2 years.

I just want to tell these people one thing.... visit Canada first, and then tell me you don't like it. I have a feeling a lot of these people have not even BEEN to Canada. How unfair is that?
Come to Halifax, I will take you out on the town... then tell me you don't like Canada or Canadians... ! Won't happen... because Canada is friggin awesome.

I haven't heard or seen anything anti-canadian.
I am Canadian and I LOVE it.I have visited to States on a couple of occassions and was treated with alot of respect from the locals.
They could tell I was Canadian as soon as I spoke and most of them had said they had visited.

People hate Canada? That's a little strange. They tend just to hang out and mind their own business. I wouldn't think most people had a strong opinion one way or the other.

I don't know anyone who hates Canada or Canadians. SOme of the finest people I've ever met. (Except for their shrub loving dirt bag PM of course)
