I own a Jeep Liberty with a four cylinder diesel and a twenty gallon tank. On the interstate at 70mph I can go about 500- 550 miles depending on the wind and hills. The diesel gets about 27-29 mpg but wind and hills take a toll because it depends on a turbo charger to provide extra power.
In town if I am gentle with the pedal so the turbo doesn't engage, it still gets about 23mpg! And that is with a 4800 pound vehicle that has four wheel drive and can pull a 5000 pound trailer if it has electric brakes.
I now drive less and make certain I need a lot of items before I head for the grocery store ten miles away. And I buy more of what I need while I am there and keep a pantry full. I live in the country. And if I only need a few items that I HAVE to have, I take the motorcycle that gets 50mpg!!!

I can usually get 350 miles on a tank of gas. I drive approximately 25 miles a day on the highway mainly, and can usually make it about two weeks before I have to fill up again. That's only if I drive just to and from work. By the way I have a 1990 Honda Accord. Of course the gas prices do affect my driving habits, but I thank god that I don't have an SUV.

I took my 06 Camry to Florida and could get around 500 miles on a tank, MPG was between 32 and 35. That is better then my motorcycle. Driving habits haven't changed but I am thinking about it more.

I can go between 550-650 miles depending on what kind of driving. I usually only need to fill up once a month. Although I hate the cost of gas (especially since my tank it HUGE), it doesn't change my driving habits.

My 1992 Mercedes 300SD (W-140) will go 840 miles to fuel exhaustion (30 MPG and a 28 gal tank)
The 300SD is a Diesel. Not bad for a 5000 lb car, eh? I beat some Hybrids and most small cars

468 miles with my Cobalt. With the higher cost of gas, I tend to combine all my trips as much as possible. More going to the store on my way home from work. No more single-item trips.

385 miles on cruise control towing a small boat with my 1996 Grand Marquis - it's a boat too but will get 25mpg on the highway.
