Think about it. You would not only have to go through the trauma of recovering from rape, but you would also have to try and keep your sanity as you suffered through pregnancy, knowing that each pain and each mood swing and each new feeling was caused by the man who raped you.
Could you honestly say you would have that child?
If so, could you damn another person to have a child concieved through rape?
Please think before answering. I've heard enough arguments of why the sanctity of life should be maintained, but I'm asking, on a very real level, if you would personally, in reality, go through with having a kid like this?

Ok, like I said...would YOU have the baby. I don't need a lecture on why abortion is right or wrong, I'm asking if YOU would have the baby.
Any answer besides that shows me that the person answering is incapable of putting themselves in another person's shoes, thus their answer means nothing.

Karen, What exactly is a non-violent rape? Does this exist? Wouldn't that be consensual sex? If the girl were 12, and the rapist were her mother's live in boyfriend, and she was too scared stiff to scream, is this non violent to you, or is it consensual?
By the way, I'm pro choice. I believe that the mother, or in this case, the girl's mother, should make that decision.
Turbo, my studies prove that there is no such thing as pro life. Not when the ones stating that they are pro life, don't bat an eye when one from that inaccurately named group kills an abortionist, or bombs a clinic. I have however, noticed that these attacks have gone down a lot within the past 3 years, but until it is stopped completely, your group can't claim that you are.
You are just anti abortion, until the choice lands at your doorstep.
cd: Question for you, since the unborn spoke to you, and obviously told you to be their mouthpiece, I'm interested in hearing just what exactly they told you about their individual situation since they are connected to their mother, and not to you. Besides, I don't see people playing sperm police to see when men kill millions of unborn babies when they masturbate. Does your sperm talk to you too?
Does it tell you, find a female, and let me live?
hithere: Can you really compare getting hit, to being pregnant? If someone hit you, the black eye would heal in less than a week. If you're pregnant by rape, that wound would stay with you for a lifetime.

Being a man I obviously cannot give you a real answer. It would be totally the discretion of the victim. While I do believe nothing just happens, and everything happens for a reason, I couldn't hold it against them for aborting the baby. It's not my place to do so. I would, however, like to remove the rapists genitals with an axe, but that would be wrong too. I believe abortion is wrong except in such cases as the one you are referring to, or if the mother would die by taking the baby to term.

I would for the simple fact that I have a terrible supportive husband and family. I also wouldn't be here....were it not for my great grandmothers decision to be selfleass and have my grandmother despite she was a product of incest with her father. Although it might not have been so much selfless as abortion wasn't an easy thing to come by before WW2 in Germany. Come to think of it my great grandma was a selfish woman and probably would have had an abortion if she could have. My grandmother ended up being the only one of her children to take care of her.....and the family line from my Grandmother was amazing. Glad some of these options weren't available...or the world would be much different. My family has contributed much since this family secret. Abortion?....It's a matter of perception and what you choose to do with your life after. You make rape into a tradgedy, or something you have overcome. A resulting baby IMHO, would be blamless of any trangressions committed by either parent.

Yes, I would and I did have to ponder this possibility had I become pregnant after being raped when I was in college. Fortuantely, I was not and did not have to make that choice. Had I been, I did not think at the time that I possessed the maturity as it would have been too emotionally wrenching to deal with keeping it, but I did make the decision had I been, I would have carried it, given birth and put the baby up for adoption before finding out if I was.

Yes...I would still have the baby. Emotional damage from the rape can be overcome over time.Abortion is irreversable. Why punish the baby, for the act of a diviant? In other words, because I get hit by someone, does that give me the right to mistreat others? Same issue in keeping the baby after an assault.
Open adoption is always an option.

As difficult as it would be, I would have the baby. Depending on the ages of my other children, I would either keep the baby or place the baby up for adoption. If my children were too young to understand how the baby was conceived, I would keep the baby because I would not want my children to think that they are in risk of being put up for adoption.
If my children were teens or young adults, I'd have an open and honest discussion about the situation and most likely put the baby up for adoption.
Lastly, just because I am pro-life does not necessarily mean I am anti-abortion.

I am actually pro-chioce but am pro-life for myself and I've thought about this many times... and yes, I believe I would keep the child. As painful as it may be I just couldn't bring myself to end the life of a child growing inside of me... Everyone else is free to chose for themselves in my eyes but as for me- no I would not have an abortion. I've read of several women who've actually had to make that choice and did keep the baby. They're incredibly strong individuals... I'm thankful I've never had to face this decision myself.

So, are you saying that a person whose body was violently violated by rape will feel better if they are able to mutilate a growing human being inside them? Explain. Please point out the clinical studies and ancillary data that support your view.
Otherwise, your opinion is no more or less valid than mine.
My anecdotal evidence is that women who undergo abortion can often suffer from depression and sadness after their decision. And it happens almost every time they see a baby's face - they think about the baby that never was. Not sure how the addition of this guilt-burden will help them with the psychological effects of rape.

I would highly consider putting it up for adoption before I killed(insert your definition of living here) the baby. I am also a male which is a little different situation too.
