The problem is that usually the ingredients of the acne control usually are formulatted with benzoyl peroxide(this ingredient is very strong and it overdries your skin) and other ingredients and chemicals that are too strong for your skin. Allergic reactions are very common, and skin can react often to fragrance or coloring that is added to products When using acne products look for salycilic acid instead, this is powerful and will not overdry your skin but will control the acne. also bathing daily cleanses the skin, but it also can dry it out, causing it to look dull, but most importantly, it may cause irritation and remove the natural emolients your body produces to keep it healthy. When you bathe, always use a moisture-rich cleanser, and always pamper your skin with a daily moisturizer.I had been struglling with acne for about 9 years so i can tell you a thing or 2 about acne, Remember that everybody has different reactions to treatments and i have tried everything (even proactive) , the one i tried and thank God i found it because it is the only thing that has worked for me and it has cleared my face and that is amazing. The important thing is to use botanically based products and i found them in Arbonne. I use them because they are formulatted without mineral oil and without animal products. Mineral oil is the 2nd worse thing for the health of your skin the 1st thing would be the sun. Animal products come from Rendering Plants and they pick dead animals and they put it in a huge pot and smash everything down and boil it and the oil that comes up is what other companies use to formulate their makeup (eww the lipsticks), gross i know) and skin care products. I found this site and it has helped my family and my friends. They have a variety of products for everybody..... try it, you have nothing to loose, only acne;) they are calle Clear Advantage and they are not pricey also they have a 45 day money back guarantee....even if the product is finished so there you go,!!! http://arbonnepuertorico.myarbonne.com ... and go under shop online, they are not sold in stores but they are just amazing.... also remember these facts...
• Peak acne years are 14–17 in females and 16–19 in males. As many as 40% of females and 35% of males are affected during these years.
• Keep your hands to yourself … touching skin encourages the spread of bacteria and excess oils, leading to breakouts.
• Excessive cleansing and scrubbing can make acne worse.

If you’re looking for accurate acne information, best to see a dermatologist. Some people believe doctors are predisposed to take the easy way to deal with acne… prescription drugs. But, with many, this simplistic answer may not be the appropriate course of action. Some feel that such prescription drugs just treat the symposium and not the underlying cause. But, a local dermatologist is still your best starting point.
For me personally, I discovered a great informational acne treatment site. Not only is there good information/articles but I got their audio e-book and following it’s advice can now say that my acne is a thing of the past! Keep in mind, were all different and there are various types of acne, so what works for some may not be totally effective for all.
Bottom line, hang in there, you will get past this! Sincere best wishes and good luck.
Oh, by the way the site that helped me is:

The best way is probably one of the more expensive ways and that is using prescription medication through a dermatologist.
The second best way is to wash your face in the morning (to get rid of the oil that will accumulate on your face overnight) and to wash at night (to get rid of the dirt, sweat, and oil from the day).
You should use products that are made especially for acne....like Neutrogena Acne Free Oil Wash or Johnsons' Clean and Clear. In addition to using these cleansers you should buy astringent and use once daily. Astringent really works well for clearing your skin. Even though you're a guy don't let that stop you from thinking about buying face masks for acne.

Try the Clear Skin Regimen by Acne.org, I set a goal of three months for myself last April and stuck with it, after a month my skin was completely clear, and since I set a goal farther away it was easier to achieve, as I didn't have my hopes up for a quick fix.

Clearasil products seem to work the best for me. The salicylic acid wipes in combination with a spot treatment ointment should do the trick in just a few days.

I use Paula's Choice products (http://www.cosmeticscop.com/). I used Frances Lauree before that, but I think P.C. works just as well and is much cheaper.

use a face wash & astringent twice a day
then twice a week use a scrub followed by astringent
also whatever you don't pick, all your doing is pushing the dirt further deeper & spreading the bad oils.

I use to wash my face with powdered milk. It has anti-oxidants in it that helped get rid of the guck that caused my pimples.
