The ACLU was founded by a self-proclaimed communist. It is not interested in seeking justice under the law. Ignorant people hear the name "American Civil Liberties Union" and think, wow, they are protecting my liberties - how wonderful. They are ignorant of this evil organization's real agenda which is social change by using wild liberal interpretations of the law to promote their socialist/communist agenda.

ACLU means American Civil Liberties Union. So what you are asking is if I am tired of having my civil liberites protected? In the age of the Bush administration, my answer is hell no. Here is the thing... they don't argue for what is always popular. Their job is to protect everyone's civil liberities, whether it is the right to speak out against your government or hold a rasict parade in a Jewish neighborhood. Not even ACLU adovacates agree in every fight they participate but at least they are being nondiscrimintory about the cases they fight.

Yes, in our area the ACLU fought for the rights of a high school student to dye her hair green. It was against the rules of the published dress code, but she dyed her hair anyway. She was aware of the consequences.
The school suspended her. However, the ACLU stepped in and said the dress code was a violation of her civil rights.
Pleez! Give me a break. The ACLU is made up of a bunch of radical leftists who have too much time and money on their hands. I think they just like the publicity.
Perhaps if the ACLU fought for some real civil rights issues, they might have some credibility.

Ridiculous doesn't even decribe how completely moronic some of their "fights" are! The ACLU, at one time, HAD it's place in society. Now it's completely out of control.
The ACLU is where people go when they don't get their way. It's like the whiners organization of choice.

Nope, don't like everything they do, but can see where they make a useful balance in a world that is so out of kilter and individual rights are being tromped on daily. You would be the first to appreciate them if you were poor and unjustly accused. They defend the least of us when the most of us are prejudiced or just don't give a damn.

What makes matters worse is that their legal fees are often paid with tax money.
I think they are the most dangerous, harmful organization in the United States.

While on occassion I agree with them on some issue, I agree that they are the most tiring and annoying of all American organizations.
They make me think of tiny, yapping dogs...

You ought to be down on your knees thanking God for them - your government has demonstrated that it doesn't care a plugged nickel for the rule of law unless it's convenient. You want your telephone tapped? You want detention without trial? You're going the right way to get 'em.
