Elvis popped his fat cloggs in 1977. So it's the first annual whinge about him dying isn't it.
People are still whinging every year now - and I feel the fans really benefited from his death because if he had continued living/ taking drugs/ taking advantage of 16 yr old girls in cotton panties/ eating burgers etc.
Then the fans wouldn't be able to claim he was so fantastic!

Not being a fan I kinda benefited as well cos he stopped making new records

My first thought when i read your question was that it was the year the first 'test-tube baby' was born.
Many families today are still experiencing the benefits that In Vitro Fertilisation can bring in helping make babies.

Incidentally, it was also the year i was born!

My son was born!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Society is benefitting from it today. He is a valued member of our church. He is a Certified Auto Mechanic, A professional painter ( Autos and Custom Motorcycles). The proud Father of twins (a boy and a girl) they are 4 years old. A loving husband. He is my very heart. Need I say more. God Bless You.
