I spent my life as a Days Of Our Lives fan, but they just keep rehashing the same old story lines and I was over the show a few months ago. I am looking to find a new soap. One that will suck me in and make me want to watch the characters. Any suggestions?

I watch The Young and the Restless. What I like about the show is that there are a good number of characters in the show, each one has his/her own ups and downs. The show does not make you bored. It starts every day on CBS at 12:30 pm (eastern time) followed by another soap The Bold and The Beautiful. That show is just half hour long. It's silly but entertaining.

I used to watch Y&R, DOOL, Another World and General Hospital. Y&R lasted the longest. Dropped the others mostly because of things like freeze rays, zombies, and toddlers turning into college students overnight, etc. It seems every summer the adults go on holiday and the kiddies take over virtually all storylines.

A few years ago I happened upon Coronation Street - it hooked me quickly and I'm addicted to it now. The characters are average people with real problems - work, family, etc. They have REAL jobs in the pub, the underwear factory, the local kennel, the garage, the corner shop, etc. The people go to the pub for a meal, to meet their friends for a "pint" and to, generally, hang out. (I wish we had a pub like the Rover's Return - instead of the dive bars full of drunks like we have.)

You'd be amazed at who loves "Corrie". There are Corrie fan sites and sites where you can catch up with extensive descriptions of what went on (in case you miss an episode or want to read ahead - no need to wait for the resolution to the cliff-hanger - CBC is months behind in their broadcasts but the notes are all there. When Richard Hillman drove Gail's car, with Gail and the kids inside, into the canal I couldn't stand the suspense so I read ahead to find out what would happen next!)

Give it a try. CBC runs 1 half-hour episode each weeknight and reruns them as a 2.5 hour group on Sunday morning.

My life is better than any soap opera...all the drama you are looking for.

Ok, I can't offer any real suggestions. I don't watch soaps, but I have heard the ones in spanish are very good. ¿Hablas español?
