The only legitimacy to those ads is that it generates income to the people who post the ads and manage to convince a certain small percentage of the population to take a risk and send money.

for the most part no. Most of them are pyramid schemes if you are good at conning people and don't get caught at the bottom of the pyramid then you might make some money. Most people end up losing money though.

If nothing else go to a temping agency. Sure some of the work is crappy and may be hot and dirty, but it is better then no job. Also even in a crappy job if you do a good job and are nice to the boss, now you have a good reference.

Around here you can get like 9-10 dollars an hour for doing jobs that require no skills at all through temp agencies. I know it isn't great pay but it is better then no job. Also that is about 300 a week after taxes.

Also if you are temping with a company and then they have a job opening you can get it easier then some random person off the street. Especially if you are on good terms with your boss and who ever would be your boss in that job.

I do a home based business. Our advertisement is handing out tools like dvd's about our services. There was a $49 investment fee, but I am in a position to make 6 figures. This does not happen overnight, of course, if it did, I would think it was a scam. I can make as much as I want per week depending on my activity. Some businesses on the net are scams and some, people actually have to do the work, and that is when these people call them scams.

Kelly,

As a fellow Texan let me try my best to answer your question. SOME of these offers are actually legit IF you know what you're doing. That said, I wouldn't send anyone ANYTHING without knowing ALL ABOUT the product/service you're getting invovled in.

I am a member of a network marketing company that is completely legit and VERY profitable. We take our newbies by the hand and help them with anything and everything until they feel comfortable with the program.

There's countless ways to earn an income online and network marketing is a great way if you're fortunate enough to find one of the 5% of companies that isn't a scam.

A good thing to do is read the reviews online. Some are scams, while others aren't. You're not going to get rich doing this and only will make $40+ a month. Check out a cool site called findmysurveys. The list a legitimate amount of surveys that will pay you.

I don't know about those kind of business opportunities. However, I have been working from home with a great company that has been in business for a little over twenty years and have been members in good standing with the BBB ever since they opened their doors. They were also awarded the BBB's Hall of Fame award at the end of 2005. I don't have to host parties, stock, sell or deliver products. I don't even have to worry about collecting any money. Some are legit.

I personally have my own business with Passion Parties, there are consultants who have placed ads on Craigslist for new consultants.

You can make a pretty decent penny if you want to as a consultant. I won't quote amounts but you can contact me or any other consultant and we will be more than happy to send you information for free.
