trains are laid back and relaxing, sometimes boring, you should not be scared

Trains are ok. Just hope that there are no crying babies on board. The neat thing about trains is that you can get out of your seat and walk around a bit if you want to and there is scenery out the windows
Edit: as seetheglobe says if it is a long trip it can get boring, take a good book to read.

Hey! I am flying across country and then taking a train to DC in a couple of days and I have not even thought about being worried!

Don't let anyone or anything scare you...ever. It's not worth it. Just use your common sense, don't talk to creepy people too much, and you will be fine. :)

Trains are like planes that stay on the ground.
Trains win most collision battles, except with other trains; which is rare in North America.
Get a good book and stay in your seat and you will be fine.

Trains are kind of fun. Different things to see. No, I would not be scared.

What? It's just like being on a bus, only faster and more comfortable.

Unless al Qaeda tries to blow up a trestle you should have nothing to worry about.
