good for you for trying to do some research.

im not sure where you can go for support for you, but maybe you should start with a conversation with your sister.

there is so many differences between each persons sexuality that if you want to know more about your sister as a lesbian you should ask her

its sounds bizarre but this may help you deal with it a little better.

Hey,, sister... Really people show a little more support. I have a sister that I'm tight with. She is my older sister. Everyone freaked out when I came out, her too for the first two days. She supported me when my family turned, she stuck by my side when everyone was judging. She told the family to get over it. they finally did. If you make it less of a big deal for her kids they might get over it sooner.. Maybe you need to tell us more details to help you. People are put on this earth to love and have happiness. She has not changed she is still the same person. You don't change mother hood because your gay.... Your still the same sister, daughter, friend that you have always been. Its just going to open your eyes to a different side of life...

I'd try looking up info on a local PFLAG chapter. (parents and friends of gays and lesbians) They can help you towards more resources as far as her children are concerned. I would also check and see if there were any other Straight/Gay alliances in your area. Look on line and type in Lesbian support groups, or Lesbian parents support groups. A lot will pop up.

I think it's wonderful that you are so supportive of your sister. Best of luck to everyone!

i am wondering if my sister is a lesbian and would like to say I have no problem with it if she is. I started out upset when her roommate moved in 4 years ago kind of jealous because I felt as if her roommate was taking my place as her sister; however, I now wonder if its something more because my sister doesn t tell me everything like she used to. they dress alike, have matching cars and do everything together! when her roommate first came around, she was very shy and now she talks like crazy. my feelings are hurt bc I feel as though she has taken my place as a sister but could it be more? I have had several close ppl to both of us ask me if she was lesbian so it has me wondering???????????

Check out Parents and Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays...PFLAG, it's a good start.

You may also find some resources at the Human Rights Campaign.

Thanks for wanting to support your sister with understanding.

issue? what issue? are some super anti homosexual or something?

chances are it took her a lot of courage to come out of the closet, so don't start getting on her case about it! she needs support!

if you are against homosexuality, please read the following and come to terms with the fact that you are wrong:

Why Americans Reject Gays

1) Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.

2) Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

3) Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

4) Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

5) Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Brittany Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.

6) Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more children.

7) Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

8) Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.

9) Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

10) Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven't adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans.

Go to PFLAG and the Human Rights Campaign sites. They both have good information.

depending how old they are just try to explane its not a matter of the sex it is a matter of the love and that love is importion for everything to grow and to live
also you can just show the kids that you still love your sister no matter what and that she still loves them no matter what and ask them to try and love her the same way that she loves them

and as for the rest of your family you need to tell them that they should not show there dislike for her choices in front of the kids becasue it will hurt them more than they will ever know the kids are the most improtion thing right now

Just because she is a lesbian, it does not change who she is on the inside. Her sexuality has nothing to do with you or yall relationship. Yeah a lot questions change but you still should be able to cope with it and go on.

dealing with what? Are you gay too? You don't need advice on dealing with anything. Your only role is to continue to love your sister (assuming that you always have). Nothing needs to change. What's the problem??
