Because the U.S knows WW3 is coming and the list of countries that support the U.S had never been shorter. The U.S will need to face the whole Arab and Muslim world (which is almost half the world population) and Russia, China, North Korea, France, Germany to mention a few. The U.S doesn't have many allies and its willing to by friendship (like Israel) even if that is going to cost it billions of hard working American citizens tax money. Desperate times require desperate measures and the U.S my friend is getting more and more desperate.

Why shouldn't it? We were part of the international group that supported and helped the founding of Israel. Since then, we've supported her fights for her existance.
Whether the founding was right or wrong is immaterial now. It just is. Time for people to get over it and move on.
