I dont think man landed on the moon. I think it was all a hoax to beat the USSR. NASA have said they would produce the original film to prove it was real and so experts can inspect the film themselves.
It turns out NASA have lost the tapes!!!!!!! WOW
We can land on the moon using minimal computer technology but can lose one of the most important films man had ever made! SHOCKING!!!!
CONSPIRACY ?

My friend always used to ask us this question: "If Neil Armstrong was the first one on the moon, then who put the camera there?" I still don't know the answer, but truth be told, I don't think I could care less.

Although my wife's father performed fuel calculations for the original Apollo landing, I'll spare you that speech. Instead, I will encourage you to watch two programs. The first show is called Conspiracy Moon Landing that it currently showing on the National Geographic Channel and it pretty much obliterates all of the popular conspiracy theories.

I would also encourage you to watch a movie called Capricorn One. Made it 1978, it is a fictional story about a fake mission to Mars. Although it is a science fiction story, it is a good example of how utterly impossible it would be to fake a moon landing for any length of time.

12 men walked on the moon from 1969 to 1972 and we have neither the resources nor the technology to pull off that big of a hoax for so long. Hundreds of thousands of people have worked on the space program. It would be far easier to put someone on the moon than to try and fake it and keep it secret for nearly 40 years.

The landings came at a time when our space program was ultra competitive with the former Soviet Union. Remember how big of a deal it was when Sputnik was put into orbit? They had the technology to monitor our moon shots and transmissions. Don't you think they would have called us out if they had evidence that it was all fake?

Perhaps the most definitive proof of our trip to the moon is what we left behind. For the last 35+ years, scientists have been beaming lasers to the moon and measuring the return times. How are they doing this? The beams are reflected back by equipment left on the moon on at 3 different locations.

Case closed.

First of all, the Russians had spy satellites all over the place, watching us. If there had been even a hint that we weren't really going to the moon, they would have known it, and made sure everyone in the world knew it. And the only tapes that are missing are the original copies--the networks had live feeds, which were also recorded.

All kinds of other conspiracy theories have been proposed and debunked. For example, there are no stars in the background, so it must have been filmed on a soundstage (tests were done by investigators in the Nevada desert, where there were plenty of stars, and neither the modern cameras nor the ones used on the moon could pick them up because of light in the foreground, just like there was on the moon). The shadows are at different angles in the pictures, yet there is supposedly only one light sources (tests showed that one light here on Earth caused the same thing). Also, a set of 3 lights were set up on the moon by the astronauts which are used by astronomers to triangulate the distance between the moon and the Earth at any given time. I believe this is done out in the southwest, and an astronomer there was interviewed about it. He said that anyone who doubted that the moon landings occurred should come there to see for themselves.

The first appearance of Johnny Carson on the Tonight Show doesn't exist on tape anywhere. Does this mean that he never premiered on the programme?

Keep in mind that NASA is not exactly known for its competency. Since its inception, it's grown to a large bureaucracy, and the disappearance of NASA tapes is no more suspect than the missing Whitewater tapes from the Clinton administration. :-)

Keep in mind that there were six successful missions to the moon and three others that went into lunar orbit. Furthermore, every claim that conspiracy theorist have proffered regarding a possible hoax has been totally refuted.

Just a last thought. Wouldn't the most likely accusers of a lunar landing hoax be the Soviet Union itself? Certainly they would have the capacity to determine if six hoaxes were perpetrated upon them.

I categorically think that Man DID land on the Moon. This is just another of the paranoid conspiracy theories which seem to be a part of everyday life now. If you pardon the pun, I really think it's high time people came down to Earth with a bump, and started accepting some good old home truths instead of looking for bizarre explanations for everything! I really think there's too much day-dreaming going on out there in general. Sir Patrick Moore knows darn well the Moon landings happened - why don't you watch The Sky At Night sometimes, and learn about this great subject.

Every time I hear this I just shake my head in wonder. One of my
passions is the apollo moon program.I've spent thousands of hours reading and studying about this remarkable achievement.
12 men walked there. They took tremendous risks riding 360 foot
tall Saturn Five rockets(still the most powerfull rockets ever launched, the shuttle pales in comparison)Witnessed by tens of
thousands of people and built by thousands more.We brought
back hundreds of pounds of lunar rocks that even Russia concedes must have come from the moon.We left scientific
instruments and laser reflective mirrors that we still use to
this day measuring the distance between the earth and the moon
to within inches. There is plenty of archive film and pictures
documenting hundreds of hours of lunar exploration,as well as
core samples,infrared,ultraviolet,seismic.x-ray,and a whole host
of other scientific experimentation availiable for review.NASA
also provides a huge historical compilation availiable on thier
web site.If thats not enough you can talk to some of the engineers
who built the space craft that went to the moon, built to unbelievable specifications to "man rate" or ensure the safety
of the astronauts.Nearly every componant had to have triple
redundancy. It took hundreds of thousands of flight directors,
engineers, contracters, and subcontracters to build and fly a
rocket with the directed energy(and danger) of a small nuclear
bomb......and no one squeeled??Not one person has come forward to say it was all faked? We would actually risk launching a 36 story tall rocket ten times with men on board to fake a moon
landing to show up the Russians? If you do get the honor to speak
with some of the talented individuals who were a part of the apollo
moon program, please don't be suprised if they feel a little bit
insulted by your question.

I have never heard of this conspiracy, but it sounds like that 70s movie when man landed on Mars. However, just FYI, Ham radio operators could listen in on some of transmissions and we utilized other countries equipment to stay in touch with our astronauts. More importantly, they probably do have the film, but like anything else it is probably classified through the U.S. Government and not due to be released for another couple of decades. As for the flag flapping? Give me a break, there is wind on the moon. Solar wind takes place through out our universe. Windis caused by the body's (planet, satellite, etc.) revolution around the sun, gravity from passing objects, or in case of the moon landing the continous exhaust from a landing craft and space suits or the guy passing near. If you prefer conspiracy, investigate JFK's assassination. Though Oliver Stones movie was a little over the top, I have a hard time believing that the police department let Oswald just walk out of the perimeter of security after the shooting.

Go with sarah p regarding the flag "evidence." Regarding the claim by BabyStance that the sun and moon are always on opposite sides of the earth, that is flatly disproven by the fact that all of us have seen afternoon or morning moons---IN DAYLIGHT! ( Not to mention solar eclipses, which are caused by the passage of the moon between the earth and the sun.
Another scientifically ignorant favorite of mine is the claim that if it took a huge Saturn V rocket to propel the astronauts to the moon, it should've taken similarly enormous propulsion to get them back. Remember, the rocket departing earth had to lift the lunar and command modules, the booster rockets and their huge fuel load off of the earth's surface. For the return trip, only the lunar module had to leave the lunar surface, and because the moon exerts only a fraction of the earth's gravitational force
and because its circumference in much smaller than earth's, the necessary escape velocity was smaller. Thus less power was required.
As to the camera: when you go into a shop and are recorded onto a security camera's tape, who's holding the camera? No one. Do I need to expain this?
Brush up on your scientific knowledge. You will find that the laws of science more than sufficiently sink the claims of the doubters.

yes!!! oh my god! man NEVER landed on the moon. I agree with you. one reason that i know this is because the positioning of the sun and the moon. the are on complete opposite sides of the earth. therefore, if you were on the moon you would have NO sunlight and if on the sun No moonlight. well, if you take a look at those "tapes" or images of man on the moon - you would see a shadow of the man, etc. now, this can't be. there would be absolutely no Shadow on the moon because only the sun could cause a shadow to be caste. (did I spell that right?) anyway, that could not happen. and further, how could they lose the tapes, that is the most idiotic thing i have ever heard. it was all a hoax. and if they really did land on the moon - i am sure they would be populating it now and taking luxurious trips there.
Girl, you are SO right!

o yeah, to sway ii - i think bush and the government did have something to do with 9/11, it WAS a conspiracy just like the man on the moon crap - you lames are just too afraid to believe what you already know.

Is it impossible for the USA to accomplish such a feat ?
NO. Was the trip and landing necessary ? YES
Space exploration is ongoing and the moon landing was simply a step going that direction.
Will the USA make another moon landing ? Probably, if determined necessary by NASA.
I suspect, since we now have more knowledge and capability, you will experience many more great things to come.

questions and answers:
How can the flag flutter when there's no wind on the moon?
*Video from the on-board camera shows the bottom edge of the flag continuing to flutter after the flag-pole is released. Every conspiracy theorist points to this as one of the strongest supports for the theory that the "landings" were filmed on Earth.
The top edge of the flag and the pole were made of flexible aluminum. During re-creation of this scene in the desert location, the flag flapped as the springy poles continued to flex after the actors released them. In the lack of air resistance on the moon, this motion would have continued until the vibrations in the poles ceased.

my boyfriend asks himself the above question... he belives that there never been a moon landing.
