He will most likely be fine. He will be thrilled to have so much space, for sure... people mistakenly think that they like small containers, but it's not true at all. They can SURVIVE in small containers, but that doesn't mean it's ideal for them. They like to swim!
You really shouldn't have a goldfish in that tank, though... they are cold water fish... Tetras, SIlver Dollars, and Bettas like warm water. You'd be better off getting a second tank for the catfish and the goldfish, as they'll both get very large, and they have similar needs.
The Bettas I've had in the past never bothered my other fish. Just don't put them with any fish with flowing fins. And of course, never put more than one male Betta in the same tank.

Depends on the fish, some bettas will be totally chill with other fish in a big tank, some will attack anything that moves, and others fall in the range between the two. We had one we kept in a 10 gallon tank with some catfish and tetras for quite awhile, until we clicked on the light one morning and he was shaking a tetra around like a dog with a toy.
So, if you hava betta, you could try putting it in and stand by with a net to see how it goes. If you don't already have one, I wouldn't take a chance on buying one and hoping for the best, you will probably end up with it in a seperate tank.

Bettas love large tanks provided the current isn't too strong. Generally in such large tanks betta aggression isn't a problem. Male bettas are poor swimmers, and can't effectively pursue most fish. The really problem is often their tank mates. Tetras tend to like to nip at the long flowing fins of the betta, and the betta is far to slow to defend itself or escape. (The silver dollar might be an issue as well.)

You will need a sort of floating plant sanctuary for your betta to hide in. A betta will like to be "hidden" from the other fish, but near the tank's surface.
If that tetra is a neon tetra, it might end up becoming betta food.

He will do fine with the other fish.
A floating plant is a really good idea. Bettas have very little muscle mass and like to breathe from the surface occasionally. That is a long trip up from the bottom. They tend to rest a lot so if you have a floating plant he will rest in that rather than on the bottom. This will shorten those trips to the top.

It'll do fine in a 55-gal. By the way, betta's aren't that aggressive towards most other fish (they're mostly aggressive towards other bettas).
A small tiger barb can easily dominate a betta.

My boyfriend is like a betta fanatic, from what I understand, if your fish has long tails and fins, your betta probably wont get along with those fish. We had five bettas at one point 4 girls and a guy and the girls ate all of his tail and fins until he died, the girls did not attack each other because their tails were not as long. Hope that helps some. ;)

He should do well..that seems big enough for the other fish to hide should it turn out your betta is very aggressive. Sometimes they are very aggressive with other fish, and sometimes they are more easygoing. It's sort of the luck of the draw!
Keep in mind, you can only keep one male betta in there, the two will fight to death.

A male Betta will more than likely try to kill the other fish. You can put a single male in a small tank, but when you put them with others they tend to fight and kill them. Good luck.

55 gallons is a huge tank for such few fish. I am not aware that a betta is a good community fish.
