My husband and I tried for a baby a little over a week ago. I was supposed to get my period this past Saturday and it never came. I have always been regular, but I don't have any symptoms yet. I took a pregnancy test over the weekend and it was negative. I figured it was because it had only been one week. How long do you think I should wait to take the next test, and how long should it be before I should start feeling symptoms?

If you had sex that close to when your period was due, you very likely missed your window of fertility for this cycle. Most women ovulate 12-16 days before their period comes and you are fertile in the days leading up to and including ovulation, but not for more than about 24 hours past it.

Now, stress, illness and other factors can delay ovulation and delayed ovulation will lead to a delayed period. So, if something happened this cycle to delay your ovulation, that could explain the (so far, anyway) missed period. Also, delayed ovulation could possibly mean that your window of fertility was more recent than would otherwise be expected, but there's no way to know that until you either eventually get your delayed period or get a positive HPT.

If you're serious about conceiving and you want to know how your cycle works and when you're actually fertile, I suggest reading "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler. You'll learn how to chart your cycle and monitor the signs your body gives you to let you know when it's time to conceive.

Good luck. And, just in case, take another HPT in a couple of days.

2-3 weeks for the test. about the symptoms it varies from person to person and pregnancy to pregnancy. some people don't feel a thing till 4-5 weeks and some in the first week itself. don't go by the symptoms, go by the normal urine test followed by a blood test.
the normal urine test indicates the hormonal level/activity and it may not indicate even after 3 weeks. it is best to do the test after 3-4 weeks of missing your period. the conclusive test will be the blood test which you can do after 3 weeks.

it uaually takes at least 14 days to start to get some symptoms. I would say to wait another week or 2 to test. If you would like to know now then you can go and get a blood test done and that will show up 10 days after the egg as implanted. goodluck.

I'd wait another week to test again & don't forget to test first thing in the morning. As far as the symptoms, everyone is different. SOme don't get symptoms at all & some get symptom overload.

If it was been at least 11 days you can go to the doctor and have the blood test done. But I will tell you this, if it is positive you will feel like you are pregnant forever.

Be patient and wait. When you skip your second period, then go to the doctor.

Good luck and if you are pregnant Congradulations.
