the proper tea partie attire is a long dress, (a bloomer if you can stand the heat), with a peticoat and a slip (optional) underneath a nice sunhat is good as is a corset (corsets may show a sign of nervouseness about your wieght though in my opinion), nothing too revieling and not too much makeup.

A traditional tea party is a conservative affair, usually between 2-6 PM. Knee length or tea length skirts or dresses. Tea length was specifically designed for this. It comes to about your lower calf. It still covers the knee when sitting and is a more acceptable length since nobody will be getting "flashed" when you cross your legs. Nobody wants to see what kind of underwear you are wearing!
While pants suits are acceptable, they are not the preferred mode. Don't go as long as ankle length on skirts or dresses unless the invitation states "formal tea." Spring and summer colors are preferred over darker fall and winter colors. Pastels, white, cream, etc.. are the norm.

Well, if it's a 50's kinda thing, maybe you should wear a poodle skirt? otherewise, just wear a nice shirt and a long skirt, or a dress that goes below your knees and maybe poofs out a bit. One piece of clothing should have something floral. Just wear some kind of dressy shoes, like mary janes or a short open-toed heel if you feel comfortable with that.

shoes?

I'm guessing you don't really care about your outfit being "in style" or anything? have fun : )

It would seem if they had a dress code that was more than dressy casual, they would have mentioned it - but to be on the safe side, I would choose a nice sundress or skirt a little below the knee and a nice top.
