burning with linux os.?

I'm trying to burn my music to a cd. When go to k3b and start, it copies music from cd, but when I "insert blank media" (cd-r), it starts the burn and a couple of seconds later it "closes", ejects cd-r, and fails. What am I doing wrong? Are there other steps to follow?

I haven't used k3b, but if it's halfway intelligent, it should give you an error message that might help. Without knowing what failed, there's not much advice I can give.
