I saw it and it was alot to follow since a few storylines are involved... but it was loosely based on the book See No Evil.

A political thriller that unfolds against the intrigue of the global oil industry. From the players brokering back-room deals in Washington to the men toiling in the oil fields of the Persian Gulf, the film’s multiple storylines weave together to illuminate the human consequences of the fierce pursuit of wealth and power. As a career CIA operative (George Clooney) begins to uncover the disturbing truth about the work he has devoted his life to, an up-and-coming oil broker (Matt Damon) faces an unimaginable family tragedy and finds redemption in his partnership with an idealistic Gulf prince (Alexander Siddig). A corporate lawyer (Jeffrey Wright) faces a moral dilemma as he finesses the questionable merger of two powerful U.S. oil companies, while across the globe, a disenfranchised Pakistani teenager (Mazhar Munir) falls prey to the recruiting efforts of a charismatic cleric. Each plays their small part in the vast and complex system that powers the industry, unaware of the explosive impact their lives will have upon the world.

This is a movie that over complicates a series of rather straightforward plots. I came to the conclusion that this was due to pretentious editing and convoluted storytelling rather than the general public's inability to grasp the issues and follow along. That said I actually quite enjoyed the film, I just thought that it could have been better.

You're joking right? This is the first piece of work in the western media that has attempted to show things as they really happen. Sure we'll read about this 50 years from now when its all declassified but then, we'll all be gone by then wont we?

My husband and I watched this a few weeks ago, and still laugh about the fact that we "just didn't get it". Can't say it was a bad movie - acting was great - but we honestly could NOT tell you what the movie is about. We had dinner with some friends a few weeks ago and we all had the same reaction to the movie.
So, if anyone REALLY knows what this movie was about, please enlighten us.

Yeah, it's about how the US and oil companies capitalize on chaos in the Middle East. I saw it when it first came out last year, so it's been awhile, but I do remember it being pretty confusing until the end.

"making experience" is a thought you prepare to philosophies not relgions. theory and good judgment are 2 distinctive issues. Taoists even have faith interior the flexibility in each and every thing and animists. some Wiccans and neopagans are slightly too "accepting" and particularly a number of them alongside with different monotheistic fundies ought to have paid a lot extra interest in intense college technological know-how training or college introductory philosophy. faith ought to be a stability of religion works and reason!

It basically says....
They have all the oil.
The entire world wants to possess it.
The US will do anything to get it...and does.
