Well, it depends....

Do you have some extra fat around your waist that you need to lose or do you just want to become more firm?

if it's some extra baggage, then do about 20 minutes of cardio. if you are not use to exercising, start by walking on a treadmill for 10, with an incline of at least 3. Do the stairmaster for 10 minutes As you body gets more use to it (about a week or two). Increase the intenisty as your body gets more use to it...

If these options are unavailable to you, jumping rope is a really good exercise to jump start your heart rate.....

While your heart rate is still up, do crunches, start by doing 3 sets of 15 (with a 30 second break in between each set). Increase as your body gets use to it.

Lay flat on your back, put your hands under your butt and lift you legs up, then put them down - but make sure you don't tuch the floor (keep them about 6 inches above the floor). This is a good exercise for your lower abdominals.... Do 3 sets of 10

any kind of sit-ups are very good..... One more thing, do some squats... while you do them, keep you tummy tucked in and firm... You will definetely feel that they are working...

If you just want to firm up, do the same thing, but maybe with less cardio... but do make sure that you worm up for at least 10 minutes......

And don't forget to stretch at the end of any exercise.... This migth prevent or at least help you not to be as sore as one can get when exercising....

Good luck!

Don't know what they're called, but this exercise by Denise Austin really works: lay on your left side with your left arm supporting you at a 90 degree angle and your hip touching the floor. Your feet will be crossed at the ankle. Lift your hips toward the ceiling as high as you can, then back down on the floor. Do 3 sets of 5-8 reps on each side and your obliques will be tighter than ever. You will feel tight IMMEDIATELY!

you have to do cardio exercises (aerobics, running, swimming, something like that) to get your heart rate up. if you do that for about a half hour a few times a week, youll start to lose some weight. after you lose some of the fat, you can do crunches to tighten your abs and stomach. the weight loss and the muscle toning will make your waist smaller.
