Your mucus plug can come out in "pieces", or small blobs. Most women confuse it with discharge. It is usually a jelly-like blob with no odor, and may vary in color (some clear, some more of an off-white color). I had "lost my plug" probably about 3 weeks before I gave birth, but the doctor also told me that the mucus plug may regenerate itself. If there is a foul odor, or a blood-tinged discharge, you should call your OB right away. Also remember, there is no such thing as a stupid question, especially with your first pregnancy. I was just a sponge absorbing everything I could learn, which meant I asked A LOT of questions. Don't be afraid to ask your doctor for fear of "sounding silly".
Congratulations on your pregnancy!! It truly is the best thing you'll ever experience (frightening at times, but what a blessing in the end)!!!

Yes that is more than likely the mucus plug that you are seeing. If it is your first baby you could lose the plug weeks before you give birth to your baby. If this is your second or third or so on, it could be a matter of hours. The only thing that you can do is set and wait and see if you go into labor by having contractions or if your water breaks.

On my first baby I never noticed my mucus plug, and I am only 27 weeks on this baby. So, I am only going by what friends and books said. It should be brownish in color. Clear discharge is just normal stuff. I'm suprised that you haven't been having more of the same for months now.

You need to call your doctor, It sounds like your loosing your mucus plug but don't be worried some women who loose their mucus plug don't go into labor right away sometimes they don't have their baby for a couple of week's after loosing their mucus plug, but make sure you call your doctor, you could be in labor and not know it. Congradulations and good luck.

That could be the mucous plug.. Don't worry, labor could still be a month away! But guess what? I was due on November 6 and my mucous plug came out a little at a time and I have her October 17th, the day after it started! And she was 3 weeks early! Good luck!! You can call your doctor if you want but don't rush to emergency room, that is totally normal.

I don't think so. I never discharged my mucus plug (or if I did I didn't notice it), but I got the impression that it was a one-time blob. If your discharge is clear, I don't think there's anything to be concerned about. If it continues to worry you, call your OB, they are used to calls about all kinds of symptoms, especially as it gets closer to your due date.

Your good hon. Just make sure that you tell the DR about the discharge on your next visit. He will want to know. He probably will do an internal to see how open you are.
God Bless and COngradulations on becoming a mom.

it is normal. Don't do anything, not a big deal if you go to the hospital they will just send you home. Wait till your water breaks to go or contractions are 5 min apart.
