Reagents are the substances that you use up in a chemical reaction. You can think of reagents as ingredients when cook something in the kitchen. Sometimes reagents are also referred to as reactants. But you don't have to worry since they both mean the same thing.

Reagents are found on the left side of a chemical equations [the ones you see in books or in the discussions your teacher gave you]. For the following example of chemical reaction, A + B ----> C, A and B are the reagents and C is the chemical product of the reaction.
