STOP WHAT YOUR DOING!! all that cleaning and cleansing is just encouraging more oil, try this for a couple of weeks and I'm totally sure you will improve...... fill sink/bowl with hot water (as hot as u can bear it..hotter the better), get a clean face cloth/flannel and gently wipe face with nothing but the water..no hard rubbing just gentle wiping. Then gently splash face with cold water afterwards, do this once in the morning and again at bedtime. The hot opens the pores to clean away dirt and the cold closes them again trust me this will be enough to clean ur face and the condition will improve dramatically (use a very natural unperfumed etc cleanser and toner before hand to remove make up if u wear it, i use a product called 'simple') and if u dont believe ur face is cleaned then try a cleanse and tone after the plain wash to check and u will see i'm telling the truth! good luck my lovely xx

You're right, if you wash your face too much, it will make your skin worse. You don't say how old you are but it could be that this is a phase you will grow out of. You shouldn't stop moisturising though, as your skin will release more oil to compensate for your skin feeling temporarily dry. There are products that you can try which will soak up the oil as it is produced. these can be used in place of a moisturiser and worn under make up if you so wish. Try OC Eight oil control genius. This costs about ten pounds and you can get it from bigger boots stores. Also, get some blotting paper to mop up during the day. You can pick these up from pretty much anywhere and they are quite cheap. You can also get make up specially formulated for oily skin, water-based is the best. Lastly, don't let this get you down, it's probably not as bad as ou think it is!

Hi i have greasy skin and its a nightmare, i use aqua marina, and tea tree toner from Lush, these are brilliant products and arnt to dear either, I find that using some moisturisers so make my skin really greasy as my skin is combination i find it hard to get one for my skin type, But i got a balancing moisturiser from boots no7 range and it is really good, but at Lush they do a moisturiser for greasy skin, i cant remember what its called though but if you want have a look at the website you should find one for you skin type. I was recently sent some biore shine control moisturiser and it has some mattifying stuff in it, so it absorbs grease. Its only £4.99. but i think is worht getting im going to invest in some when the sample has run out, they also do gentle face washes for greasy skin to at the same price. I have read that clinique isnt any good and is expensive. I would recommend any of these products.

I used to have the same problem. I use withc hazel, not as a face wash, just neat from the chemist. Its much stronger and cheaper. Just put some on cotton wool and use it like a clenser. However you might be over washing which will stimulate more oil production. One thing about witch hazel is that it can make your skin break out before it clears up, it takes about 2 weeks to see results. If this dosent work go to the doctors there might be an underlying hormonal problem at the root of this issue.

How about a strongish hot lemon water solution applied with cotton pads to cleanse the oil away and then immediatly splash cold water on to seal the pores? Also drink lOTS of water. Lots of lemon water is even better. For the short term don't eat too many oily (even though they are otherwise healthy) foods like oily fish, avocados and some nuts and seeds.

Before you wash it try wiping it down with an alchol prep pad it stings a little but it also help unclog you pours and its not harmful to your skin then wash it with a soap that has no moisturizing properties in them like zest then rise with cold water. Also check the makeups that you are using it could be causing some of the problems that you have.

Try using ALOE VERA GEL on your skin after you have washed, just smooth it in and let dry. It's the best thing I know for skin. Most chemist's sell it. Don't wash your face so often, once a day is all you need, unless you are in a job that makes you filthy.

As someone who also has oily skin, I hate to tell you this but there is no cure. You're just going to have to get used to it and remember to clean it often. For me personally, I found that washing with hot water, then cold, helped a lot. Also, astringent (which is mostly alcohol) is good to use at least once a day, usually in mid-day (around lunch or after school or work). Anyway, good luck, my erly compadre!

Try the mask for oily skin(clay).Or get a facial and then follow the skin care routine they give you. Some times products with alcohol in it dries your face quicker but be careful they can make you dry and flake the skin.
