If you have the money take him on a trip with lots of physical things to do--he's had enough head work for awhile.

Otherwise, a monogrammed leather briefcase, a Mont Blanc fountain pen, a gift card for Barnes and Nobles.

But not money. He's your son and he needs something special and personal from you to show your pride in his achievement.

Of course a great deal is how much you want to spend. But a vacation is a really nice gift. Let them get away from school, away from work. They have just gotten a huge load of information. Some time in a wonderful place to digest all of it would be nice.

A Porsche. Or stock market shares. Cash would be acceptable if he was a teenager, but etiquette discourages from giving cash gifts to adults

It depends on what type of job his is going to get. Something for his office would be nice. Cash is always nice too.

I gave my nephew money when he got his Masters because he was going on to get his doctorate and I figured he could use the cash.

If he is anything like the poor college student I was, cash. If you are looking to do a gift, try a portfolio, heavy weight paper and a nice pen for interviews.
