Absolutely. Some people have an innate sense to serve their country. It is probably a view you do not share. That does not mean the parent does not love their child, it just means they respect their child's wishes. There are different reasons for joining the military like financial, curiosity, and sense of duty to protect our beliefs. I would be proud if a child possessed the maturity to make such a profound decision.

Of course, at 18 parents don't have much say in their kid's decisions. I'm pretty sure YOU made some pretty stupid decisions at 18 (assuming you are there already) that your parents supported. Your attempt to slur all Republicans is not extremely well thought-out nor profound.

Let me ask a follow-up question. Are parents who allow their 18 year-olds to vote for a morally bankrupt person like Bill Clinton really showing love for their children?

18 year olds that enlist are the reason u r free today. Just because a parent supports their child's decision doesn't mean they don't care. Besides, how can you stop him/her? They're legally an adult. Guess you don't have kids, huh

I think that only a psychotic, controlling parent would not support what their child wants to do. What kind of love could you possibly have in your heart if you teach hate for America to your child? What kind of a parent (Cindy Sheehan) would spit on everything that her son did for this country and make it as though he died in vain. Some people in this country still believe it is worth defending. I would be proud if a son of mine chose this path. It takes honor, courage, passion and intelligence - things you OBVIOUSLY know nothing about - so you should probably not ask such ignorant questions.

I have NO doubt they love their child. Being 18 he is old enough to make his own choices. Why wouldn't a parent support their child even if they didn't like what he or she wanted to do. I didn't like some of the choices my kids made either, but I supported them. I know going to fight a stupid war that our president just loves is in NO way a comparison to my children. I do however support your child. It takes alto of guts to want to volunteer for to go fight a war that is as unpopular as this one is. Most men twice your child's age wont do it.

of course they do. in fact, let's take a look at the converse...

if a parent didn't support their 18 year old's decision to honorably serve their country by defeating terrorism, it would show that their (the parent's) hate of their own country was stronger than the love of their child.

Yes. I don't support the war in Iraq but I am still glad that we have people that still want to protect us and fight for us. I hope you aren't very old because this question is making you seem very immature.

parents disagree with their children's decisions all of the time but still support them. it doesn't necessarily mean they don't love them. now if the parents came up with the idea to enlist, that might be a different story.

Well, I suppose that unlike the parents of an anti-war protester, they didn't raise a retard parrot, so their child can think and act for themselves in an intelligent and informed manner.

To question their love is one of the nastiest and stupidest things you leftist moonbats could say. You are such an asshole.

I think every parent loves their child, but they might be missinformed about what goes on in Iraq. People still believe it is a very honorable thing to do.
