Because when we are in control, people come to us for our decisions and importance increases with how much people want us. Attention through the form of control makes one feel important.

Most people feel this need because in a way it justifies anything that they've ever done. Personally, I don't need to be in control to feel powerful. If my actions can have the effect that I desire, than I can say that I am in fact important.

Most people i've found feel important because they are in control. they don't want control to feel important.
