Skip the call to the Dr. and go on to the maternity ward. If you are leaking amniotic fluid you should already be there especially if this started Saturday. A broken sack can allow germs in and lead to infection in the baby. They like to have a baby delivered within 24 hours of the water breaking. Just because you haven't had the classic gush of amniotic fluid does not mean that your water hasn't broken...especially since today is your due date. They can test the fluid and tell if it is amniotic fluid or other. Then you'll know for sure. If you're not in labor they'll send you home. Good luck!

Please don't freak out from these people's answers!

When your waters begin to leak, your doctor will let you know what the procedure is. Some have you come in right away and others let you stay at home and just ask you to wear pads and then report as soon as you feel the first contractions. They might not start for another 24 hours.

Since yours has been leaking for a few days, I would guess your doctor will want you to come in today. Be sure to drink lots of water to help replace what's leaking, but again don't panic - amniotic fluid is self-replenishing so your body is still making it.

Oh and stay on your feet when you can because less leaks out when you're standing up.

Best of luck with your delivery!

You're ready to have the baby. That happened to my sister two weeks ago. She was due August 14th also. Her mucus plug came out and she was leaking, she went to the doctor and he immediately sent her to the hospital. She had the baby 16 hours later. Good Luck.

You need to not only talk to your doctor, you want to see him/her right away! When there is leaking, which has occurred since Thursday, this is a sign of the amniotic fluid leaking, not the water breaking, but a possibility of infection. It is your due date today, so go and have that baby!!!!! Congrats and good luck! At this point, you don't want to risk anything, for the sake of your health and of course, the baby's health!!!

I understand this is your first baby...congrats.

But when you have a problem with your pregnancy, you do not get online asking questions.

What you do is get in the car and head over to the hospital and go to the Labor and Delivery floor and get checked.

If you are leaking water then that is a sign you are about to go into labor.

Yahoo is not a medical center for you to be waiting around for an accurate answer.

the mucus plug coming out is normal at this point. But if you are sure you're leaking fluid--get to the Dr or emergancy room asap! If you have a tear in the amniotic sac or are leaking-bacteria is getting in as well. good luck and congrats on the new baby!

Go to the doc today!! Nothing to be scared of, but make sure you're ok. Leaking water is not good when the baby doesn't come out soon then.

Go to the hospital or your doctors so they can check. Do this ASAP. The baby usually has to be delivered 24 hours after a leaking/broken water.

You will most likely delvier within the next 24 hours, if your water really is leaking. Doctor's like to dliver quickly since the environment for the baby is no longer safe once the water breaks.

Good luck

You really need to get to the hospital instead of waiting. If your water is leaking out, then that could potentially hurt the baby. Remember thats what the baby is living in..breathing. If you loose that or take that away, it will kill the baby. Its basicaly suffocation. Sounds alarmist, but its the truth. You need to get to the hospital instead of waiting, and don't let them push you around and send you home.

Good luck and congrats!
