This is an important issues especially to people in South Africa where we have now come full come circle on the issue of home language teaching. Apartheid used to use home language as a means of endorsing separate development, today indigeneous languages are encouraged to be developed. This is very ironic

I have noticed in my profession (as an engineer) that we have a large number of men and woman working this field from India. The math comes to them quite easily. In fact, some of them are quicker than my calculation programs. I am awed and impressed.

I feel that it has something to do with the languages that they speak. Egyptians are also very adept at math. Was it the language of the Egyptians that allowed them to engineer the only wonder of the ancient world still standing?

I have not made a formal study, but I am very nearly convinced that the English language has held me back. I want to know how to help my children overcome the block that has made math a hazard for so many young Americans.

I think eventhugh we need international languages like English French German and so on we should have in the schools home languages , kids how have to learn in other then their home language have to do more then kids how are thought in their own language, I don't want to be miss understood I think it is good and helpful if people speak more languages, but to study maths it is better and easier to understand in their own language

Maybe you should try a Google or Yahoo search.

Those doing serious research would not be goofing off on this forum.
