Proper answers pls as it is quite worrying. I got her in March and lately she's been plucking her feathers out, she gets bathed daily, she's been sprayed with mite spray, gets fresh fruit and cereal on a daily basis. she seems happy enough though.

stress is the most common cause of feather plucking. it may seem happey to me or you but animals are good at hideing there feelings. try putting her in a quiet room out of the way for a while and see if this helps.

another cause is mites but you said u sparyed it aginst this so it may be a skin condition. a vet can run tests to check for any health problems as it may be in pain.

those birds are very sensitive, when they get stressed or depressed they do that... a friend of mine had one and the solution for her was that the bird needed company, people around her... so during the day (while my friend was at work) a pet shop baby-sat her amazon, so people got to see her, talk to her and even stroke her (this bird was quite a flirt) and in less than a month, the amazon was better, happier and no longer plucking her feathers.
gdluck, these birds need a lot of love ;)

something could be stressing her out, or maybe she misses her old place. maybe she's lonely. You could get her a friend. My doctor brings her amazon to her work and i always play with her, and she's been plucking out her feathers too. It IS very worrying, because you feel so bad for them, and you just don't know what to do. I hope someone gives you your answer

well when birds pull there feathers out it means they are stressed, maybe in need of attention, im not sayin you dont treat it right but could also be an allergy to the mite spray good luck = )

How much attention do you give the Amazon? I have the same problem as you. I have a Cockatiel who plucks his feathers, I was told that my male Cockatiel needed more attention. If it continues I think that you should see an animal doctor.

Maybe there is some other irritant. Try calling your vet and explaining the situation over the phone. There may be something that you can do at home without taking her into the vet. Otherwise, I would advise making a trip to the vet.

When a bird plucks out her feathers, it means she is very very bored. If you keep her active, with lots of things to chew and eat and play with, she might stop.

It also could be that she is so hot and is trying to shed to keep cool. You might want to try putting a fan next to her...

She's probably bored or upset about something even though she seems happy superficially. Amazons are very intelligent and complicated creatures, almost like people, but different. I have more experience with less intelligent birds; you probably need advice from somebody with more experience with smart parrots.

Could be your bird is bored.... without stimulation of some kind birds get bored, specially if left for long periods in the day alone. It can help to leave a radio on if you go out.

How old is she? Parrots are social creatures who have a family, and culture, it could be that if she was an adult when you got her that she misses her family(former owners) and is expressing her grief by pulling her feathers out, or maybe she's just bored.
