My family are all Conservative Republicans. We do not have 1 liberal in the family (yay us)
My son married and independent and she is now a VERY conservative person. I think you just have to inform the smart ones and they'll "see the light" My daughter-in-law is a 4.0 college student.

Hey Jim - GREAT LIFE.
I am a good moral person with values and I do not like what liberals stand for.

The NOW - the liberals women's group just stood in silence while Bill Clinton raped and committed adultery with many woman...using his power in office to seduece. They did it because Bill supports abortion - and to ME - it is killing a baby.
Again, I would be embarrased to have any liberals in my family.

I can spell - just can't type. I KNOW I made mistakes in my above statement. I hit submit before I corrected my typing.

Dunrobin - our families are all college educated and upper middle class.
My husband has a great job (graduated 1st in his class in college - YES - a good University) and he makes a lot of money.
My 3 oldest kids are in college and doing great. So is my sophomore - all geniuses!

I just asked this question because I wondered if people are embarrassed by their family as the liberal Susan Sarandon is of her mother. Susan's mom was invited to the WHite House and she went. LOVES President Bush.

We are all a highly educated and well informed Christian families. Liberalism goes against most of what we believe in. (abortion, gay rights, generational welfare, etc.)
And before you go attacking on the CHARITY front (as most liberals don't think that we are giving) we give probably more than most of you make in a year.

Liberals are very confrontational about their beliefs. More so than the conservatives I know. In my job, I cannot and will not give a political opinion. The liberals are hate-filled and obnoxious but they are clients so I have to sit and listen (I'm well paid for the tirades so I'm not complaining). They do not have a positive comment EVER. They are the most pessimistic angry people I have ever met. Never have a solution - just a complaint.

I know it sounds like I am "stereotyping" liberals. How do you think stereotypes get started if there is not SOME grain of truth?

over the years MY wife had this secretive side to herself. back when we got married the definition of a liberal was only a whisper in the wind and identifying one would be hard. Now that liberalism is a class 4 hurricane(all hurricanes diminish in size), I became knowledgeable. So as we started to have a kids, it was then that I have noticed that she was suffering from the illness of liberalism. She came out of the closet and adamantly opposed traditions in raising the children. I wrestled in my mind every conceivable way to undermine her cunning attacks by speaking to the kids about morality without her around but my attempts were thwarted as she had much support from her liberal friends. As a result, the elder child favored his moms spoiling and lack of discipline has now corrupted his mind. However: I believe his intelligence is becoming aware of a most grave state of affairs this country is in due to that disease. he favors my choice in presidents, which is, I believe a good thing and trend in him to make those important decisions(with foresight)that will affect his future in a more positive way. He as well is a 4.0 grade student and gets his Intel from my side of the family. It is important to talk to the highly intelligent children who will someday be put in trust of a nation that is based on morals. Thank you for Hope.

Plenty of liberals in my extended family. No, I'm not ashamed of them. I do not feel shame for any but my own misdeeds. If they feel the need to be liberal, that is their problem and shame, not mine.

One uncle, who I love dearly, tried to tell me that it is the NRA that wants NYC criminals to have guns - a complete mischaracterization of the NRA, which stresses legal and responsible gun ownership, gun safety and supports increased punishment for criminals who use guns in crime. So, we tend to talk about life in general, poetry and books.

No, people have their beliefs and those sometimes are undeterred by facts or evidence to the contrary.

I do not take responsibility for others' political views. That's their own burden.

You are so hung up on class! Upper middle class indeed!

The only people who concern themselve with classes are the lower class, who pretend to be something there not.

Hitler had similar veiws - that those of a different opinion of his own were wrong. Scary huh?

"inform the smart ones". That is very funny considering statistically, there are many more liberals with higher education than conservatives.

I too an a Liberal, and I too have a high IQ.
Your IQ should have nothing to do with your political choice.
That is why we have the freedom of choice.
It's a shame that you and your family look down oh Liberals. They are good, US citizens and are only expressing their voting freedoms and thoughts.

Regarding your uniformly conservative family, there's an old saying: where everybody thinks alike, nobody thinks very much.

Being a conservative myself, its a shame you have to view people as black or white.....

Why don't learn acceptance and realize that not all people are going to think like you? People like you give conservatives a bad name.....
