A man went to a barbershop to have his hair cut and his beard trimmed. As the barber began to work, they began to have a good conversation. They talked about so many things and various subjects.
When they eventually touched on the subject of God,
the barber said:
"I don't believe that God exists." "Why do you say that?" asked the customer.
"Well, you just have to go out in the street to realize that God doesn't exist.
Tell me, if God exists, would there be so many sick people?
Would there be abandoned children?
If God existed, there would be neither suffering nor pain. I can't imagine a loving a God who would allow all of these things.
" The customer thought for a moment, but didn't respond because he didn't want to start an argument.
The barber finished his job and the customer left the shop. Just after he left the barbershop, he saw a man in the street with long, stringy, dirty hair and an untrimmed beard. He looked dirty and unkempt.

The customer turned back and entered the barber shop again and he said to the barber:
"You know what? Barbers do not exist."
"How can you say that?" asked the surprised barber. "I am here, and I am a barber. And I just worked on you!" "No!"
the customer exclaimed. "Barbers don't exist because if they did, there would be no people with dirty long hair and untrimmed beards, like that man outside."
"Ah, but barbers DO exist! " answered the barber. " What happens, is, people do not come to me. "
"Exactly!"- affirmed the customer.
"That's the point!
God, too, DOES exist! What happens, is, people don't go to Him and do not look for Him. That's why there's so much pain and suffering in the world."

I believe in some sort of divinity, the Tao, aum/om, the cosmic conscience, the higher power, whatever you want to call it. Personally, I like to refer to it as the "cosmic conscience", whatever it might be. Do I believe in God? I don't believe in a divine entity that can have petty human traits like anger, vanity, jealousy and favoritism, for example, and that is willing to do such acts as revenge and punishment. I don't believe in religions, I don't believe in cults, sects, traditions, rites, churches or any such thing. I believe in Life, in Nature and in Good. I think the concept of good is much more practical and better understood than the concept of an almighty God that may or may not exist, and may or may not be according to anyone's interpretation of whatever scriptures. I consider myself an agnostic. I believe in possibilities. I believe in the possibility of such a thing as a deity or group of deities existing, and in the possibility of it not existing. I also believe that I shouldn't matter and shouldn't make a difference on how we live our lives. Nature and all the life around us are the factors that should be relevant to the choices that we make.

By the way, to answer something that wasn't asked, I'd just like to say that the reason we have two eyes is because we wouldn't have a visual notion of depth and perspective with only one eye, and we don't really need more than two (although sometimes an extra eye would be rather useful!).

No, I do not believe in God. There may be a god out there, but not the one we humans depict. We will simply never know if there was one, so why would a God that wanted you to believe in him put out all these contradicting forces such as evolution to make people turn away from him? If he is such a loving god, why does he send all those people to hell everyday to suffer for eternity?

To the person that believes in God because monkeys can't write Shakespeare: Simple evolution. Humans have evolved to be very smart animals that have written communication.

To the person that believes in God because it explains everything, such as having two eyes: Once again, simple evolution. Through natural selection, mutations, etc. we have two eyes.

To the person above me with the barber story thing: By your logic, if a person came to God, he/she would not suffer. Since a person with dirty hair can come to a barber and become clean, a person who goes to God will no longer suffer. Hmmm, explain to me how a priest gets cancer and dies a painful death.

I do believe that there is a power greater than us that watches over us. I think it's sad not to believe in something. God gives people hope that we are here for a purpose. If there is no meaning to life then the world is truely doomed for destruction by our own human agendas.

I grew up Catholic, then when I was 15 I decided to go off to protastant church on my own. Around the age of 19, I started questioning things that no one could answer about the Bible. It was from then on that I gave up having faith in any religion. I believe in evolution, because that at least has proof. I don't critisize Christains for their beliefs, I just go by my own.

No. God wouldn't bother himself with the Earth when he has the rest of the universe to care for. God only looks out for planets that can look out for themselves.

I believe in God. I could give you a ton of my reasons, but that's what they'd be- my reasons. "Case For Christ: Student Edition" By Lee Strobel is really good for explaining everything clearly, and you can judge for yourself.

I like that you plug your beliefs in your question... Actually that's a bit obnoxious. A force, yes, a bearded man with a white middle-eastern son... No.
