press and hold down the menu and select [center] buttons at the same time. hold em down for a little over 5 seconds and it should unfreeze

first, though I'm sure you know this, make sure the 'hold' switch (on the very top of the ipod) isn't on.
If it isn't, try to plug your ipod into a power source, such as into the wall or the computer. Plugging it into the computer would be best, since it refreshes the ipod while charging it.

Throw it in the oven in 360 Degrees(Pre-Heated), Put it in the Microwave for 3 and a half minutes, or Alternatively use a Blow Torch for about A Minute.

just let it sit there. after a night it will unfreeze but there will be no battery power left so just charge it again. be sure not to play the game music quiz because that makes it freeze. (for me)

The other answers are correct about holding down the button. But you may have to hard boot it and lose all your stuff. My best suggestion is go to an apple store if you have one in your area. Go on line first you can set an appointment. They showed me how to hard boot mine at the store. I could have read the directions but who has the time for that.

I've had trouble with this before--I called Best Buy, they told me to hold down the middle button and the top button at the same time until it came on. Worked like a charm!

yeah that happens to my ipod ALOT!!! your not alone!
Hold down both the menu and play buttons for a few secs and then the apple symol will show up and then it will unfreeze. believe me... from experience!

Hey I have one too and that ahppens to me you know were it says menu you press and don't let go of it and that it will unfreeze. Okay tell me if it worked.

Lock it then unlock it. Hold down the menu and middle button at the same time. Do that until the screen flashes and the apple icon comes on.
