These contractions are about an hour apart and I've been having them every day for the past 2-3 wks. The nurse at my OB's office said not to worry unless I have more than 3 in an hour. I still wonder if this is normal. I did not have any of these problems with my first pregnancy. Anyone have this same thing or is there a dr or nurse out there who can provide some input?

Yeah, I feel this too when the braxton-hicks contractions start. In fact, that's how I know one is coming...my lungs feel constricted. It's weird, but there's no cause for concern.

But the nurse is right - unless they are not going away and you see a pattern within an hour then it's just practice for delivery day.

This is my third baby and I've been having BH contractions since month 5.

Once you hit the second trimester it's Braxton-Hicks time. Mine started a lot earlier for my second baby also...around 22 weeks, and for a few weeks they stayed a lot longer than before (sometimes up to and hour or more). My OB said as long as there is not bleeding and they are not happening more than 3 or 4 times an hour then it's OK.
I found the best way to make them subside (since some days it seemed I was spending more time contracting than not) was to very consciously relax. If I was at home I would also lay on my left side for a while.

HI there...it is completely normal. I have been having them since I was 21 weeks. I am currently 32 weeks. Sometimes I even had 2 and hour so don't worry. It feels like someone is sitting on my chest. Very uncomfortable but it's just getting you ready!! Like your nurse said, as long as you don't have more than 3 or 4 an hour, you're A-OK! Good Luck and Congratulations!!

I am not a doctor but I have three kids and with my first daughter I had the same contractions starting at 28 weeks they monitored me for about 4 hours then sent me home. they last for about 5 or six weeks before they went away. I carried her full term and everything was fine. As for the breathing trouble the baby is probably compressing your diaphragm. But it is good to keep up with those contractions in case things change.

It's normal. I did the same thing with both babies. I made a many of useless trips to my doctor's office and to the ER and I'm the mother of two healthy boys. If their is a real pain or real problem trust me when I say you will know. If you see bleeding or very bad contractions that make you yell or bundle over then you have a problem.

I am not a dr or nurse but I did experience similar occurances with my second pregnancy. If you feel something is really wrong, go to the hospital. Better safe than sorry.

You are not going to find a doctor on Yahoo they do work you know.

If you are really concerned get to the hospital and see a nurse up in Labor and Delivery...they are the ones who can better assist you in your problem.
