and then crawl around the floor in the dead of night (I only see them if baby wants milk) and they are gone in the morning leaving only a trail as a clue. If I throw pellets down behind the sink I will have dead slugs where I can't get them. I cannot bear to go near them ugh!

Pour salt on them, or in that area. There are also slug repellents you can buy at the store, but if you need to do something now, everyone has salt, so try that first before spending money.

Try to find where they're coming in from outside. If you can't find it, then just try this behind the sink. Pour a line of salt around the hole or crack they seem to be slipping through, and wait. You may have a few dead slugs, but only the ones who were either there when you laid out the salt or are too stupid to realize salt will kill them. This should deter the slugs, but if it doesn't, try calling an exterminator for advice.

fill a pie tin with beer...cheap beer.....they love beer and when they crawl in, they drown. It's easy to discard and if you do that for a week or so, you'll be rid of them...you also need to find out how they are getting behind the sink so you can stop that from happening, too, and thus be totally slug free.

Go out and buy some slug pellets and sprinkle them around the hole both on the inside AND the outside if you can get to it. Of course, if you can get to the hole on the outside, block it up!

salt?
If you chuck salt near the hole where they are coming in that should stop em! They wont get passed that or go near it.
However if it is a hole that they are coming through, be thankful its just slugs and not something worse like cockroaches.....yikes!
Id get the hole filled if i were you.

Just put salt around the hole in the sink. If they die, they die - they're small, they won't stink much when they die.

You might also look into getting a product called "diatomaceous earth."
