ok cena, I've got a lot of typing to do!!
Since you want to change your image, i would guess you have to change your wardrobe too. You were a tomboy last year...so this is gonna be a big change!!

I KNOW THIS IS A LOT BUT READ IT!!! JUST PICK OUT THE STUFF THAT DESCRIBES YOU!!

I don't know what you look like so I'll have to put down stuff for all the types....lets start with hair shall we?

HAIR: long hair -- looks great in a high pony tail or just straight down (that is if your hair isn't at your butt. if it is, cut it 4 inches!) It also looks great wavy or a little curly. If you do like a Shirley temple curl, it's going to look overdone.
short hair -- looks great with choppy layers, short cute pony tails even pigtails, but only if you think you can pull that off. Straightened and down looks awesome if your face isn't too wide or too rounded. wavy, but never curly!! Messy ponies look great to with the hair hanging down behind your ears. (A lot of the avatars on this have that hair style.)

MAKEUP: If you're pale -- if you need any cover ups or foundations go with a powder and concealer. (Concealer is a liquid that you only put a little bit on problem areas on your face like acne.) Get a light neutral transparent color for both that and the powder.
If you want blush, go with a light peach and apply it lightly in upward strokes on the cheekbone. Go to covergirl.com to see great foundation applying tips!
Tan or Dark skinned: go with that foundation that matches you perfectly. Blushes include rose and browns for the darker skinned.
eyes -- if you have dark eyes, go with smokey colors like charcoal at night or light pinks/tans that sparkle to make your eyes pop with black mascara and eyeliner if necessary..........if you have light eyes, go with browns for the night and pink/tans again that sparkle for the day!! brown or charcoals for mascara and eyeliner will do.
lips -- light pink gloss is your best friend!! (Or a neutral lip gloss)

FASHION: I love stores like Abercrombie and Fitch, American Eagle, and Hollister. They are expensive though.
Your body type is the most important thing to think about when buying your clothes. If your average or on the skinny side, do get things that are too baggy or too tight. If you're a little bigger than most, go with things that are never tight and baggy is good.
Pale people: look great in those autumn tones like greens, hazels, browns, oranges, medium pinks, etc...
Dark skinned or tan: those eye popping colors like hot pinks, turquoises, stuff like that.
Look in the magazines, watch style network on TV, ask a store employee for fashion tips. The fashion world is always changing their looks, so make sure you're up-to-date. OR if you want to be layed back but not a tomboy, try Aeropostale. They're not so preppy.
Shoes -- flats are totally in right now!!! In my opinion, heels are a no no for school anyway, but especially when you're tall.

LASTLY: to pull this all off, you have to be proud of what you look like, so flaunt it girl!!

I HOPE THIS ALL HELPED!! GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN!!!! <33

Don't go too extreme. You'll look like you are trying too hard. You'll also be uncomfortable in clothing that isn't you. Don't go for 3" heels if you aren't used to wearing heels. People can tell when someone is uncomfortable in what they are wearing. They look stiff and unsure. Even if the outfit is physically comfortable, on the inside you won't be when it isn't what you like/want to wear.

If you want to change your image, go to the store and look at the clothing on the rack. Get what you like in the styles you like. If you want a skirt, get one you like. Don't try to go really frilly when you aren't. You probably won't wear it once you get it home. Try things that are similiar to what you would normally wear, just a bit different. Since you say you were a bit of a tomboy, look for fashions that are still reminenscent of that. Maybe an A-line denim skirt instead of ruffled chiffon. Try some clothing that is feminine in cut and style, but without the flowers, bows, or ribbons of really girly ones. Solid colors and simple prints instead of rhinestones and sequins.

Add a few pieces at a time. Don't try for a whole new wardrobe at once. Mix up what you had with the new clothing for a comfortable look that's you. Then if you don't like it, you didn't spend that much money, or have a closet full of stuff you don't like.

For school, follow the school's dress code if you have one. Nothing is worse than being stuck in gym clothing all day because you offended a teacher with your outfit. If you don't have gym clothes, I'm sure they will put you in something hideous that they keep for times when someone breaks the code. (I know my school did.)

If you have a friend or sister that you like the way she dresses, take her with you. She can help you to find some items that are the style you are trying for. But make sure you are choosing the clothing, not her. Although she may have great taste, she sin't you. Take suggestions, but don't let her don't let her dominate the trip.

For hair and makeup, go for natural colors and styles. Don't try wild colors just yet. Less is more, and you want to get the hang of applying the makeup before you try darker and bolder colors. It's easy to get heavy handed at first, and with dark, bold colors you can go way overboard. For hair, get used to styling something simlple before you try a style that requires two hours to achieve. Something simple will require less touch-ups during the day, and it will be less likely to need tons of hairspray or gel. You don't want to have to wake up at 4AM just to get ready for school that starts at 8AM.

Go to the store and go look at one rack at a time! Only pick out the things you like that are comfortable! Take them out, try them on, and see if what you picked out is tomboyish or girly girl! Buy what you have the money for! Get a mix and wear what you like!

well lets see the preppy style is really in right now. To do this just find a solid color shirt v-neck and put a white or black shirt under it hrn a pair of jeans and some nice flatsto go with it. For makeup i owuld say light colors, a little eyeliner some eye shadow-not to heavy, and a light pink lip gloss.

Try AE or Pac-Sun for a vitage type un-girly look. Makeup don't wear any until people are used to your new look or they will think you are a poser. Wear converse for the tomboy image and that shoud cover you!

if you don't want to look tomboyish
wear natural make-up, light colored clothes, make your hair look wavy, wear skirts. Most of all just wear what you are comfortable in.
p.s. keep accessories simple

what to wear:
denim mini skirts
some screen tees
pink or purple shirts
some jewelry
maybe some cute flip flops
you could try skinny jeans(otherwise just get some tight jeans)
anything that just looks girly to you!

ur all set!

good luck..
