I'm 24, I'm in very good shape. I've been on a swim team in high school, college, and now I just swim daily. I have a lot of upper body strength. Even being in good shape, am I too old?

No Way!! I love gymnastics!! I'm in level nine but I'm out with a knee injury. I hyperextended it dismounting off of the bars. It happened in the beginning of summer and then it didnt get better so I had to get surgery. Be careful though you can really hurt yourself!! Have fun!

I 'm afraid so, yes, you are too old for gymnastics. I 'm not an expert on this but I've heard gymnasts start from an early age so their bodies & mind shape up to being a gymnast. However, if you are fond of this sport I think you would be able to atleast learn afew moves - for yourself that is , not to become a virtouso gymnast.
Even those who start from an early age don't all become gymnasts, many quit. Their bodies don't respond, its not in them. again if you are eager to learn give it a good try.
becareful with the stretches...lol

Well, in fact you can but only some of the movements not all. To play Gymnastics you have to start so early, you have to be 8 years old at least not 24.

No, it's not, but competitive-wise, unfortunately your age and late commitment is a detriment. You could make it a hobby though.

Gymnasts get into the sport at a very young age, and with all of the practice and concentration, they tend to peak in their mid to late teens. The competitive career of a gymnast doesn't last very long.

Not at all -- and good luck! However, if you are dreaming of going to the Olympics or something, that's probably not going to happen. Those people start at a really young age. But gymnastics at 24 sounds good to me.

You're never too old to learn anything. There are a lot of gymnastics places that have adult classes where you can focus on flexibility. As long as you're not looking to be world class I think that it would be a great idea.

Go for it! It's never too late to do something. If you feel fit enough go for it. Start out small and see if you have the feel for it and then if you feel comfortable with it do it. I'd LOVE to learn gymnastics but I know i'm not inshape enough for it, or flexible enough for it.
