I answer only the questions I want to answer. I want to give my opinion. I don't expect to get the best answer because I mainly answer people that I disagree with most and do not care about a thumbs down rating. The main thing is to get the ideas out there. I'll also answer the practical "how to" questions if I have info that I haven't yet seen posted, that's just to help.

I guess it depends on the mood I am in. Some question deserve a quick answer and you get your two points. However some questions are touching, thought provoking or need to be shot down. That is when I am answering because I really want to. To many people, when you look at their home page our much more interested in collecting points and securing the highest level possible in the shortest amount of time. Then really trying to have an open dialog where ideas can be exchanged and possible problems solved. But then again I don't hold the majority or the human race in high regard anyway.

This is an intresting question to me. Because, my answer for this is a different one.
I have to test this...this being my responsibility, I am answering this question just for the purpose of testing.
Anyhow, I am glad that most of the people are answering not for points.
By the way, what are we going to get if we gain more points?
Okey, I guess I should have opened this as a new question

Seriously, I answer for the points and because I really want to.
I get a sense of satisfaction answering the questions to the best of my ability. I find that I have something to contribute and some situations that I can relate to and have experienced first hand that I can share advice about.

Before I got to a level where I could answer unlimited questions a day, I would answer the max questions daily that I could, to build up points...but I still was choosy about the questions I answered and only replied to those that interested me or where I thought I could share useful information or opinion.
Now I'll randomly answer all kinds of questions, because pts are less important.

I like to show off my writing skills and how much I know without wikipedia. I also want to know what happens when I reach a certain high level, so also for the points. I get very flattered when my answer gets chosen as best answer. And many times, there are people who sound liek they have genuine issues and I like to help them resolve them.
This is as honest an answer as you'll get.

Both. I answer because I want to answer, and I also get points for it. Though once I hit level 7, I may just quit because there's no more goals to work for, and I'm getting pretty bored on here.

Because I want to. The points don't mean anything anyway. I read through alot of questions and only answer certain ones.
