Sipitang ~
The purpose of a cross counter coach other than watching the progress of his/her team is to evaluate each one of his/her runners. Cross country meets are won by points putting his runners usually the top 8 in the best position to place. If you're in the Midwest there are several Cross-Country meets that have different flights (brackets) and it's the coaches job to determine which flight his/her runners run. They coaches are also there for moral support, confidence and direction.
