How is insulting your opponent on the pitch "intelligence"? If you have to do that, it means you cannot win by your skill and must use a very cheap tactic.

Doesn't anyone here just find him a scumbag and a disgrace to the game...or am I the only one who thinks that?

What Zidane did was in retaliation to what Materazzi said, how could you even compare the two? If someone spoke like that about your family, wouldn't you react the same? I know I wouldn't let any filthy rat get away with insulting me.

Yeah, I don't understand how anyone can like Materazzi, and France almost won in the shootout without Zidane anyway, it was just really bad luck that Trezeguet, who is such a great striker, missed by a few centimeters. I still think about that almost every day, so I can only imagine how the poor chap must be feeling all the time because of that terrible, awful luck!

Juventina: Supporting a scumbag makes one also a scumbag, to be proud of what that filthy rat Materazzi said or did is disgusting! It goes to show how much character some people have.

Hai Lady_ Starlight.

I dont think anyone in their proper senses would like Materazzi except for some Italian. materazzi is a very bad man unsure of his and his team's ability to win, so he simply does something 'intelligent' that helps his team win. Materazzi is a cheat and insulting another player's mother, wife, cultural background to provoke him and pester him so much that he reacts to it and gets a re dcard. The great man is out of the game and the italians easily win becoz of just one man-Materazzi.

I think he is a great player and very intelligent. People can say what they want, Any Player Play's to win and Materazzi's intelligence won Italy the World Cup by getting Zidane sent off.
Matterazzi is a great Player.

I'm an Italy fan but I couldn't care less about him. He's definitely not one of my favorite players on the team, basically because he has a record as a "dirty player" with Inter. After all, he was playing because Nesta was injured. He did a decent job, but he's not the best defender Italy has -- Cannavaro and Nesta are top contenders for that title.

On the World Cup incident, however, I think he would now be as anonymous as Fuad Amin if Zidane hadn't headbutted him during the *final*. When Zidane stomped on Fuad Amin (who allegedly insulted him) in the 1998 World Cup, there wasn't all this fuss because it was just a group game.

No he is by far one of the dirtiest players on the pitch. What happened at the world cup wasn't even so bad considering some of his other trashy fouls such as pinning people to the ground with his foot, grabbing someone around the back of the neck and squeezing really hard, kikc while on the ground, just blatantly pushing people.

He is a good player but he fouls to much and ruins the game.
