I'm a 15 year old boy.Since i've been growing,i've noticed that my shoulders were unleveled and that my ribs were deformed. But i never told it to anyone until last week to my parents. This morning i went to the hospital and made some X-rays.After analysing them the doctor said that those deformities were congenital. He added that if those deformity worsen then it will be treated. My parents agreed with the doctor without asking me my opinion.Everyday i have to hear all sorts of comments about my posture problems at college by others boys in my class.Everytime i feel really bad by their comment(like:"hey look there's the alien"or"hi monster",etc). Also i do not have many friend, its as if they all try to avoid me or make pranks about me.I don't want to wait it to worsen,i want to have myself treated now.Why doesn't my parents understand it?Do all parents wait for their child's case to worsen completely before giving them treatment or is it happening only to me?

You need to talk to your parents about all of these feelings and your desire to have treatment now if it's possible. They need to know how serious this is for you. Make a list of your concerns and any questions you have (like "Why do I need to wait for treatment?). Sit down with your parents and go down your list. If you have trouble getting them to listen to you, then give them the list.

Doctors sometimes wait to treat conditions that could change as you continue to grow. They want to see whether the condition will grow more severe or lesson so that they can determine the best course of treatment.

I'm sorry that you are having such a hard time at school. Do your best to ignore the "mean" kids and look around for those who are more kind and compassionate. There are actually many people (even teenagers) that are "big" enough to overlook your appearance and work to get to know you. You just have to find out who those people are. The best way to find out is by taking the focus off of yourself and working to be kind, compassionate, and friendly to other people. When you take an interest in other people and their concerns, you become more interesting yourself.

15 sounds like a long time, but remember that your parents only ever saw a perfect child like all parents do.

People are very cruel, when people are a little different for whatever reasons, and when every1 gets a little older things dont seem so bad.

You have probably made yourself a little withdrawn socially.
Try a hobbie if not sport , that way you get to meet new people.

If you are feeling uncomfortabe with your posture etc then you should talk to your doctor and parents for treatment before it worsens

Remember with treatment things should improve. Exxtra Goodluck...

Well honestly most parents go by the doctor's recommendations.. maybe you should research your condition and find out if there if there is a specialist in your area and tell your parents that you want to get a second opinion. I would tell them that is impacting your self-esteem and social life and that you really feel that something could be done now instead of later.. Good luck sweetie!!!!!

That's very sad and you almost made me cry. Maybe your parents don't have the money so they can't afford it right now. If I knew you I'd be your friend. It's not right that other people have to put you down. The only reason they put you down is because they want to make themselves look better, and that's not right. I wish I could help you. I wish the best for you and hope everything will turn out well in the future. Bye.

YOur parents should have been more vigilant and taken you to see a specialist earlier on. However I don't think it's too late for you. Continue to monitor and see the doctor. .
