No I think you should get him either a DS or a DS Lite because the SP is going out of style and eventually he will ask for a DS anyway. Also you can play Game Boy Advance games on the DS.

gameboy advance SPs r fine and alot cheaper than DS's. but i know that when i was six and wanted something, then got it, and something new came out...i always wanted that new thing. Plus DS's are easier, because if he really wants an advance, he can still play game boy advance games on the DS. SO even thought a DS would be more expensive, it would be a better choice.

Hi. Yes as far as hand held systems go the SP is the best, and for many reasons. More Kid friendly games, easier controls, great picture and it has a built in light. It is also priced right right now, and the games for it are easily found at a nice price used. It is a great system, and does not need batteries either. You will be pleased. My son loves his. In fact so do I hee hee

Yes, I think it's a good idea for a 6 year old. They have a lot of games for his age level, but they also have games for older kids too. So he can use it for at least a few years.

Yes I think it is, either that or a Nintendo DS because they have games aimed at younger people
