Depends what you want to do in Edinburgh.
Do the normal touristy things, all the normal things to do can be found in the tourist info place on Princess St next to the train station. For nightlife, head to victoria St (a windy street off George VI bridge). There is a fantastic bar there that is on about four levels, all differently themed. There are also a few lovely charming bars down from there on the Grassmarket. For eating, there are so so so many places to eat. The absolute best is the Witchery and if you have a good charm to get a table and a large wallet then it is to be highly recomended. Otherwise, get the list guide to eating out in Edinburgh (available from lots of newsagents) and take ur pick. Really, in a whole summer of eating out two or three times a week, I never found anywhere I didn't like in Edinburgh.

Have fun.
