Here's the story

There is a river with a bridge over it, and a WIFE and her HUSBAND live in a house on one side. The WIFE has a LOVER who lives on the other side of the river, and the only way to get form one side of the river to the other is to walk across the bridge or to ask the BOATMAN to take you.
One day the HUSBAND tells his WIFE that he has to be gone all night to handle some business in a faraway town. The WIFE pleads with him to take her with him because she knows if he doesn't she will be unfaithful to him. The HUSBAND absolutely refuses to take her because she will only be in the way of his important business.
So the HUSBAND goes alone. When he is gone, the WIFE goes over the bridge and stays with her LOVER. The night passes, and dawn is almost up when the WIFE leaves because she must get back to her own house before her HUSBAND gets home. She starts to cross the bridge but sees an ASSASSIN waiting for her on the other side, and she knows if she tries to cross, he will murder her. In terror, she runs up the side of the river and asks the BOATMAN to take her across the river, but he wants fifty cents. She has no money, so he refuses to take her.
The wife runs back to the LOVER'S house and explains to him what her predicament is and asks him for fifty cents to pay the BOATMAN. The LOVER refuses, telling her it's her own fault for getting into the situation. As dawn comes up the WIFE is nearly out of her mind and decides to dash across the bridge. When she comes face to face with the ASSASSSIN, he takes out a large knife and stabs her until she is dead.

Interesting!! Although I can turn this into an essay or use it in a debatable group discussion. In my point of view, the problem started at the begining.... and it the couple should have more communication and solved their issues, therefore the wife wouldn't have been unfaithful. but her actions and reactions resulted in her death.

The husband should have taken care of his wife more, so she wouldn't be driven into her lovers arms. So he would be held accountable for pushing her away. And she honestly told him that she would be unfaithful if he left her over night. The wife took it upon herself to find someone to finesse her b/c her husband wasn't up to par in the relationship. So she would be held accountable for her own actions. The lover knew of the marriage and participated in the unfaithfulness of her desires. Therefore, making her think that she can always come to him for a booty call. So saying "it takes two to tango", would mean that he was just as guilty as the wife. If he would have turned her down she either would remain faithful to her husband (or go after the boatman.) And the boatman was just doing his job, surely he wouldn't keep offering a free ride without payment. Maybe he knew of the assassins plan and was trying to avoid being in the picture. Or maybe he was a friend of the lovers and wanted the wife to get caught. He was just a mystery or being put as "the middle man." But to me and in today's world, reality & court system, it would be be the assissn that would be tried in the court of law for him actually killing the wife. The other charaters would be involved but ultimatly the assassin would be fighting for his freedom if he was caught or turned in for the murder of the wife regardless of the situation behind it. I'm not a greedy person or value money, but the world does and maybe that's why the government is the way that they are. This is my point of view and I'm stickin to it....

I am either an Otter or a Bat personality. I think otter fits me better. Ottor Genera and species: Amblonyx cinerea Collective Term: A prank of otters Description Otters are petite, engaging creatures overflowing with positive energy. Intelligent and bright, they are also popular and eminently lovable and displaying the highly developed social skills that typify the small carnivores. So, otters mix easily with a wide range of animal personalities. Lazy? Let's just say easily distracted. For life has so many diversions for the otter, that whether it's playing a computer game, reading a book, or doing a crossword puzzle, it's impossible to predict how it will fill it's day. But when an otter gets focused on a problem, it's keen intelligence rises to the challenge and it will not give up until the nut is cracked. Otters feel entitled to the good things in life and a general sense of well being gives them the confidence to not have to save for the future. A lover who wants to impress an otter should know that otters love to eat out and have a predictable penchant for sushi. Although intelligent and witty, otters have a tendency to suffer from self-doubt, and fear of failure can prevent them from living up to their true potential. Still, they are a great problem solvers, with the ability to spend endless hours on abstract or practical challenges. As workers, they are dedicated and capable and always eager for a chance to prove themselves. Their determination makes them valuable employees and although they often feel that their contributions are undervalued, they would rather accept lower pay than risk confrontations in their workplace. Although they are fine motivators, they avoid taking leadership roles, performing better in group situations with their social skills coming in handy when counseling coworkers through their problems. Their dexterous hands are useful in a wide range of careers, and they're ideally suited for work in engineering, advertising, and design. As lovers, otters are tenacious and have remarkably vital libidos. Unafraid of expressing their needs, they have little tolerance for selfish people and are attracted those creative enough to fulfill their sexual appetites. Among the aquatic animals, the lusty dolphin provides endless fun while the terrestrial fox proves to be a challenging and sexy companion. In a relationship, the otter will willingly stray into dangerous waters, betting that its instincts will see it though. But, for the most part it prefers the familiar shallows of a predictable association with the semi-aquatic beaver or sea lion. There is no question that the otter is going to have children. Lots of them. And this otherwise carefree individual will surprise you with its strict and disciplined approach to child raising. Otters are certainly not shy. Their highly advanced communication skills explain why friends flock to it for advice and why ex-lovers find it so hard to let it go. But sometimes it seems that relating to an otter is a one-way street; for otters hate criticism. It's not that they don't believe there's room for improvement -- it's just that they tend to confuse criticism with rejection. Friends must step lightly lest they wound the otter's self-image, for this is the surest way to dissuade the otter from further communication. I am a Libra.
