Most dermatologist can klook at a cyst, or wart and tell if if is cancerous. But the cyst will be sent to the pathology dept. One good thing in your favor is they appear outside.
I had a cyst on my lower left rib cage several years ago and went to see a surgeon. He more or less ignored it and just told me to watch it and if it grows come back and I will remove it. I went to work one day and had on a polo shirt and this guy behind me wanted to know what that was sticking out of my back. The cyst had grown and when I went back to the Doctor he liked to have had a fit. I had to be placed in a hospital with surgery the next morning. The "cyst" had developed roots and had entered my muscle tissue and some back muscle had to be removed also.
I applied later for additional insurance and I had to have a "biopsy" report from that cyst. That is what scared me when I read the report. "Recent bleeding occurring, yellowish mass encased in "sack" like substance, and roots extending into the lower back muscle. I told the Doctior at least it want be "cancer", and he said how do you know? I told him I would have been dead eighteen months ago; he looked at me and said, Robert you are right.. Just remember if you have a growth anywhere and you go to a surgeon, it will be removed as to him it is not suppose to be there. Thankful that my friend noticed it pretruding through my shirt...

I had a cyst removed from my back/shoulder area--it looked like a pimple that never came to a 'head', but as it turns out it was a growth from a nerve fiber and that was the reason it had been irritating me. It was non-cancerous. The removal was done at my dermatologist office, no pain, and no problems afterwards. It required a couple of stitches. I hope your procedure goes smoothly and you get a good result as well. And....my doc. told me they sometimes grow back.

My best friend has a pylonital cyst and she has had two surgeries to have it fixed, it was not cancerous. If you are worried about that have them do a biopsy. That will tell you
