Nothing against dark people, but the Jews in the movie 'Exodus' were supposed to be European- like from Poland, Germany, Russia... so why did they make them all look so dark??

different Jews from different parts of the world have different coloring... but the European Jews generally had light skin.....
and in the movie, they had really dark hair and skin- they looked very Arab... (again, not a bad thing, its just not the way Jews look...).

Did anyone here even watch the movie? Or read the book?

well this is clearly solved through two clear answers.

one is that hebrews wandered and lived in the deserts for years and in those days the only sunblock you really have is goat fat or curdled goat milk. so they got deep dark tans that all jewish people carry today.

now thats a silly answer that anyone may have given.

the real answer probably lies that the movie studio in an effort to get their actors to look more like Israelis they made them look darker like most people in Israel look. However this could also just be a goof on the part of the studio as well where they looked at people from Israel, totally fudged that they were from europe and probably lighter in complection. Thats probably the more logical answer because it is hollywood of course and as most people know...they don't always care the most about facts.

but hey at least the movie has paul newman...i mean hes jewish right....

(paul newman is however awesome and is beloved by myself...go butch cassidy.)

Genetically, the Jews and the Palestinians are closely related derived from DNA tests. My guess is that many of the revolutionary fighters came from the area of pre-created Israel, when the territory was under British rule. Leon Urich was the author of the book, and would certainly have stated his opinion if he found it misrepresenting the truth as he knew it. My recollection is that Otto Preminger was the Director.

During WWII the Nazis depiction of the jewish race was of someone with dark hair and compexion. I think this conception continued in many peoples minds and therefore was how they were portrayed in the movie. It is similar to the way Jesus, a Jew from the middle east, is shown in paintings as having blond hair and blue eyes.

I believe the movie 'Exodus' was shot mainly in Greece and the Greek Islands therefore most of the extras would have been locals. Hence the darker skin tones.

Judaism was originated in Israel. A middle-eastern country. Hence the darker skin.

They were seriously suntanned. Have you ever lived in Egypt? My gosh--you get a killer tan in a hurry.

It was probably the screen writer and director's perception at the time.
