Sports. Make them exercise. They'll thank you later when they aren't dying of a heartattack and have a habit made of exercising.

Definitely sports. Controlling weight by limiting intake is another method, but I would recommend against it. While limiting food may limit the fat intake, it can also limit the vitamins and minerals if not done correctly. Kids grow at an enormous rate, and so literally every single day their body needs a whole mess of vitamins and minerals to construct the new bones and muscles. If the raw materials are not there, the kid can develop a weak bone structure or muscular system, and that can cause problems later in life.
A healthy abundance of good food and a few very active sports will keep kids in the best shape. The extra food will keep their bodies full of nutrients, and the active lifestyle will make sure the body rids itself of any associated fats.
Finally, it should be noted that body weight is not as good of a health measurement as the Body Mass Index (BMI). Muscle weighs more than fat, so you should expect an initial increase in weight after starting sports.

Bicycle riding is fun. Take a trip out of the way to the nearest ice stand and get a water ice (a great treat that's not fattening) and it'll burn off more calories for the ride back. Make sure they have bottled water with them, too.

Drink lots of water. Cut out soda. Go for small walks. Swim. Play with the neighbourhood kids- that gets you a lot of exercise with tag and all that. Go biking to the grocery store for mom- gets you brownie points too :D, try eating things with less than 5g of fat, think about what you eat, climb trees, ....

Hi
I guess this plan could help so try it out , here goes
If you are serious about losing weight, the calories in the food you eat should be less than the energy you use. You will have to increase your metabolic rate now, and plan your diet carefully.
Formulate your own weight loss plan and you will lose weight faster. More details available at http://tinyurl.com/m7ckx
Good luck

No one really needs to excercise All Day to get results, an hour of good excercise whether it be on the treadmill or playing soccer is really enough. Trying a lowfat version of milk is really helpful too.

if the kid is a videogame fan there's a bike thingy that connects to the x-box and serves as control... either that or let the kid find a hobby outdoors such as a sport, walking, collecting, camping, etc... each kid knows its strenghts and weaknesses and usually find whats best for them.... gdluck ;) (oooh!! a personal favorite... frisbee or boomerang throwing ;) even better if you design and make them yourself)

to lose weight you must be physical and change your diet. Without it, it can't be done, so get them doing games/sports etc and stop eating junk food

well, I'd start with educating them what foods are not benefitting their bodies.
Soda, for example can take off 15 pounds w/in a yr- depending upon how many are consumed daily.
Make sure they drink loads of water- flavored sugarfree are great alternatives.
Most importantly- you must set the example yourself.
Best of luck to you & your family!
:-)
