as ive said before, it takes a whole team to win or lose a match...

in my opinion, the talent (or lack thereof) of one single player cant carry or bring down the other 10 players on the field with him. sure, one player can really affect a game and help out his team tremendously, but he cant do it alone. and the fact that the only goal france had was that one penalty kick by zidane tells me that they were having trouble penetrating italy's defense...and 10 more minutes with zidane in the game wouldnt have made a difference.

in terms of the penalty kicks at the end, yes, zidane could have made his kick and it could have meant that the kicks would have continued....but overall, i think buffon is a better goalie than barthez (who looked so nervous during the kicks) and italy would have won either way.

and im not saying that because i dislike france...i just honestly think that italy was the better team in this case.

I have no idea, since France never dominated the game, they led for all of 7 minutes on a penalty kick that barely got in. People don't understand Italy played a laid back game but were always in control. I could equally suggest Zidane got himself thrown out intentionally so as to give France an excuse for losing. I won't because that's just stupid.

France would not have won.

1. They were not likely going to score as Italy was content to wait for pentaties and was packing the defense.

2. Good kicker or not the guy that missed the kick still would have taken one as even with Zidane in there he is one of the top 5 and had fresher legs. Someone else that scored would have been replaced by Zidane thus the outcome is the same.

France would have still lost...even the france coach said he would have put David Trezeguet for a penalty kick even if Zidane was one of the other shooters.

And people say that so they can have an excuse as to why Italy won the cup.

Its just like people saying if the Germany Italy game went in to shootouts Germany would have won, like are they stupid or something? Just because Italy like 8 years ago lost in penalty shootouts dosen't mean they'll lose again with a totally different squad.

BECAUSE ZIDANE IS THE MAN!

1) HE COULD HAVE HAD MORE OPPORTUNITIES LIKE THE ONE BUFFON SAVED IF HE HADN'T LEFT. HE WAS ON FIRE!

2 ) HE IS THE CAPTAIN AND EVERYONE LOOKS UP TO HIM. THEY ALL SAY "IF WE DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WE GIVE THE BALL TO ZIZOU AND HE FIGURES SOMETHING OUT EVERY TIME" YES, HE IS THAT GREAT!

3) HE IS RELENTLESS WHEN HE TAKES A PK... DON'T YOU STILL HURT FROM THE ONE WHERE HE NAILED BUFFON?
HOW #$%^ COOL WAS HE THERE?

4)THE ITALIANS WOULD'T HAVE THE PSYCHOLOGICAL ADVANTAGE THAT THEY GAINED AFTER HIS DEPARTURE

5) THE FRENCH WOULDN'T HAVE THE PSYCHOLOGICAL DISANTVANTAGE THAT FOLOWED HIS DEPARTURE

6) HOW ABOUT WE WOULD HAVE HAD 11 PLAYERS AND NOT 10, THIS FACT ALONE WOULD IMPROVE OUR CHANCES FOR SCORING.

7) IT MESSED WITH OUR FLOW OF THE GAME WHEN YOU KNOW VERY WELL WE OWNED THE SECOND HALF AND OVERTIME UNTIL THAT POINT.

WHAT ELSE DO YOU WANT TO KNOW?

Because hope never dies.

The truth is we'll never know. It could have happened. It could have not. Zidane could have scored... and also he could have missed his penalty shot just as Baggio did in 94. Could you imagine that? That would have been sad.
France had a chance to win with Zidane on the field. He wasn't gone that long! C'mon!

Goodluck!

they still would have lost. the only point they got was from a stupid foul. they couldnt even score again. were as italy did and they said with was an offsides which it wasnt...and the guy that hit the top of the goal still would of done the same this despite zidane being there. the french suck and are poor losers. and plus italy deserved to win. they played as a team unlike the french who only relayed on zidane and henry.

if he did no longer get a purple card he could desire to nonetheless help the group and consider out to supply something specific interior the final 10 minutes..if that did no longer take place interior the final 10 minutes then it extremely is a 50-50 concern..whether he scored interior the penalty shootout it extremely is in elementary terms a million purpose out of 5 or much greater..any group could have gained the international cup whilst it consists of penalty shootout..you basically could concentration on the job, get rid each and each of the butterflies on your abdomen and optimistically the international cup is yours..

I'm sure France would've still lost. The red card happened too late in the game to affect the outcome.
