The tale comes from India and the Raj... these feathers are supposed to be unlucky because they bring in the evil eye... but in other cultures they are said to be lucky - warding off evil spirits - it just depends which one you believe in...
The peacock is considered to be a bird of protection and safe guarding. This bird is also valued as a protection for the psychic self. There has been lore that writes that to have a peacock feather within the home this helps to safe guard any of the energy in the environment. I personally have always had peacock feathers in my home, even when I was a child in my room. I also know that some native people also use the peacock feathers in fans and some crafting. While I have heard some individuals speak of not having them in the home but I can say that nothing has never come about for me. I found the feathers and consider them to be a gift from The Creator.
Peacock for Harmony
The peacock brings harmony and joy to our mind. This bird is majestic, proud with much expression and as the male bird walks and dances to the female in courting. This reminds us of the celebration in life.
NBC displays the peacock with its tail feathers full of All-Seeing Eyes. In Hinduism... 'when the god Indra transforms himself into an animal, he becomes a peacock. In India the peacock was believed to have a thousand eyes in its feathers... In Java, the peacock was associated with the Devil. In Mosul in northern Iraq, there is a sect of Yezidis who hold that the Devil is not evil, and call him the Peacock Angel.'

Intuition mixed with a little common sense is telling me that peacock feathers are good luck. I say this because the "eye" on each feather is nature's way of distracting any would-be attacker that might target the peacock's actual eyes in order to disable it, so making it weaker and easy prey.. Because of this, I think the feathers would create a strong form of security and protection in a home or worn by an individual.

In fact, peacock feathers are more revered in India than anywhere in the world: where Indra sits on a peacock throne and Indian god of war ride on one. Even during Deepavali, peacock `feather' designed kavada's are used. Many of the spears are poked into the human flesh.
For the Chinese; often peacock feathers are placed in a vase next to the altar.
If one looks carefully at a single peacock feather; at the centre - looks like one eye. For this reason it is considered as driving away evil.
For the Chinese, the entire peacock signfies beauty and dignity.
When China was conquered by the Mancurians (Manchus) - these rulers used the peacock feathers (wear them to denote a rank). Honestly, I would not like to have been born a peacock during this period. Otherwise, I end up being domesticated / reared and endure the pain of getting my feathers plucked all the time.

The Myth about the Peacock feathers is because of the eye shaped patterns. It was said by some to represent the "evil eye". The Peacock is an animal sacred to Hera, Goddess of the Home and Fidelity and the feather is seen by some of her worshippers to be a sign of her watchfulness over her followers.

My view about Peacocks feathers is just be strong enough about the belief, nothing will happen like all the sayings considered to be like rumors, actually in my home i am having more then 200 feathers and i enjoy them every moment and my family is too happy, even i got a egg recently, i love peacocks and i see it as pure and heavenly peace in it, dont let all this stupid beliefs spoil your enjoyment, STRONGLY i want to say feathers will not decide your luck or bad luck, your works and actions will decide what is good or bad in your life. RE:
Is is good or bad luck to have Peacock feathers in the house and in either case why?
I've just been given some but vaguely remember that it was supposed to be unlucky to have them in the house, it's supposed to auger a death in the house if my memory isn't faulty but I also vaguely remember that they are supposed to represent purity and pride. I don't remember why...

The dominant color of the peacock feather eye is indigo, this color rules the chakra located at the pineal gland, which give the capability to see everywhere, or psychic capability. I would say that is pretty much good luck.

Neither one. The notion that certain things bring
good or bad luck is simply superstition. Carrying
a rabbit's foot was said to bring good luck, but the
rabbit that provided the foot had four of them and
what good did it do him?
