I think the show Cops is just a way to exploit minorities, drunks, prostitutes, and people down on their luck. Seems like they are very aggressive against them as well. Saw a hooker thrown to the ground and about 5 cops sitting on her as her bottom was exposed. Usually takes a crew of 5 or more per hooker, why? Then a drunk gets questioned over and over until they pissed him off so he could be cuffed and hauled off. They are so aggressive they almost promote retaliation. Is all scum whores and minorites? I'm sure some high class people are getting busted daily, why don't they tape that? I see celebs, priests, and politicians daily in the news getting arrested. Cops is selective taping in my opinion.

The reason that you see lower income people on Cops most of the time is that they film most of the episodes in high drug areas and they can only show the arrests where the person who is being arrested signs a waiver allowing them to use the footage on tv. They don't care that they look like idiots on national tv, they just care that they are on tv. It's the same mentality that keeps Maury and Jerry Springer on tv. Sad to say, a person with more education probably isn't going to sign a waiver letting someone show them on national tv being arrested for picking up a prostitute.
BTW, I saw the episode where the prostitutes got tackled. They were not being arrested for being prostitutes, they were being arrested for stealing a car. One of them took a swing at the cop and the other one ran. These are both things that if you choose to do you should expect to get tackled, tazed, or pepper sprayed and I'm sure that those 2 girls (who had been arrested before) knew it.

no it dos not exploit the less fortunate.
It shows how stupid people are.
for example who in there right mind would race there car at 100mph through the city form the cops to avoid a ticket for a broken tail light

I completely agree with you and there should be more tapeing of the weathy doing ileagal things and less of taping the minorities in america, it creates a sterotype that is very untrue.

no one is exploiting them they're trash-thats why they let the show be seen....they dont care what they look like they're on TV..thats god like status to the poor. They dont show a bunch of white lawyers in suits getting arrested..because....they dont commit crimes that can be solved in one show.

Totally pointless media....yet lots of people actually like to watch it....go figure.
