I will have 5 hours to spend at ohare airport between transfer. Could anyone recommend where to have some shopping by taking blue line train? Kind of hesitating to go to downtown cuz it takes 45 minutes one way. Any mall to hang around inbetween?

The airport has a fair number of shops, but I agree about taking the train to the city and risking a delay.

You could take the train to Jefferson Park and walk the street stores on Milwaukee Avenue. Nothing too special there though anymore.

Consider a cab ride to Woodfield mall, about 20 minutes to the west in Schaumburg. One of the largest in the world. A cab would offer an alternative route if the interstate roads get blocked.

I don't believe so. The area around O'Hare is mosty hotels for all the conventioneers that fly in and out and corporate offices. You'd still have to take a bus or some other transportation to get to the nearest mall in the area. But the train does go right downtown so an hour each way still leaves you three hours to shop downtown and there are a LOT of shops to check out so it might still be worth it.

well i hate to tell u but downtown is your best bet (michicagn ave or watertower). woodfeild mall is the closest to ohare, but it all depends if u want to pay the expense of a cab. and time saved might only be about 15 min each way. so if you're a real trooper, head downtown, power shop fpr 2 hrs and head back, which would give you about and hr to go thru check in (with the airport issues of today we wouldnt want to press your luck with any less time)

Not really. O'hare is fairly far out of the city. You might want to think about staying off the blue line and checking out Park Ridge and/or Rosemont areas instead.
Those are the two towns adjacent to O'hare. Downtown is simply too far away.
You might think about Old Orchard shopping, it's not that far a limo/taxi drive.
