Generalization - not all parents do that. My oldest sister had very few responsibilities while growing up. My other sister and I had to cut grass and clean horse stalls on a daily basis.
Responsibility doesn't take away your childhood either - unless you have the responsibility of caring for younger children (which means you often become the parent). Responsibility as a child teaches you to be responsible as an adult.

Responsibility does not equal taking away childhood. Responsibility is something we all have to learn. Sometimes, though, parents forget that all of their kids, even the youngest need to be taught this skill. I don't think parents necessarily put a burden on the oldest but that they tend to forget to remember that their youngest need to learn responsibility too.

I'm the oldest, and i'm the first doing everything like going out, living on a campus, etc... plus, taking care of my little sisters because i'm the oldest, the mature one (at least the more mature one!)

Usually, it's because parents have more children than they can cope with and they use the oldest child as a third parent.

well the whole part of learning to be responsible is actually proving to your parents that you can do it......if they see that you arent responsible....you may not be allowed to go certain places or be able to do anything...why? because you have to earn your parents trust.....to know that you are responsible.......trust me your younger sibling(s) will get the same as you
how else to learn how to start being able to take care of yourself when you get older...gotta learn somewhere
